I won't deny NBA players are privileged, however public health officers do something called contact tracing. there was at least one positive player (index patient) with it and thus it made sense to test several players, think about it, index patient touches that ball, his face, his mucous, touches the ball and passes it all around; you are talking about potentially 20-30 players having direct contact from one person. THEN, each team traveled and played another team thus exposing 30-60 more players.
regular people do not necessarily need to get tested. if you are sick and can manage your symptoms with over the counter meds, do that. going out to the doctor to get tested exposes you to truly sick people and it will be THERE that you will catch something.
getting a positive test DOES NOT make a difference. if a young person with mild symptoms is positive they will be SENT HOME to recover with Tylenol, cough medication, and told to rest.
TESTING makes NO DIFFERENCE for young people with no chronic conditions.
