The poker lifestyle is a tough one. I know that former college coach Mike Cunningham was a pro poker player in Vegas for a while. He’s now the Gill Athletics national sales rep and has a track podcast.

EXACTLY! Everything Sam man said is 100% true.
Plus if gambling continues or escalates it will get even worse with future income being much more limited
The cojones on this one! Happy to see him being able to enjoy life ot the fullest as a gold medalist. There were very few scenarios where he could win gold yet he will continue to profit for the rest of his life from the one he was able to live out. Jakob probably wins 50% + of the 1500 scenarios in Tokyo, but Centro not so many in Rio.
I lost big in the stock market yesterday, though it is rebounding a bit today, so far. And it will continue to yoyo. And I could lose my shirt. Or I could continue to make decent money.
Even AFTER the loss yesterday, I was still up 15.4% over my total one year and six days ago, at the end of 2020.
My point -- everything is relative. A big loss ain't necessarily a big loss in the overall scheme of things! Watch the current Jeopardy champ. She bet big in a Final Jeopardy recently, knowing she would be the ongoing champion even if she did lose, and she got it wrong. But she knew she would be coming back to add to her mountain of cash earned to date. She's accrued over $900,000 in winnings. BUT SHE LOST BIG MONEY IN THAT ONE GAME!! GASP!!!!! What a LOSER, whose life will be defined by that, and other, losses! Yeah, it's possible, but not probable.
Stupid people -- those of you who have decided that Centro is a big-time overall loser just because he lost big time in ONE poker game. And even if this was his only poker playing, and losing, his loss might be a drop in the bucket for an Olympic gold medalist.
Or he's headed down the road to financial ruin. YOU decide, based on this slight glimpse into his life. I repeat...STUPID PEOPLE!
