490 for 1 on paused hack squats at 6'0 and 227. On an Icarian hack squat machine with my feet at the bottom of the mat. It's tougher to put your feet at the bottom than the top. Tougher to pause it at the bottom instead of using momentum and bouncing it off the bottom. No knee wraps.
Two weeks ago I did 465 for 2 on my 2s day and 485 for 1 on my 1s day. Both PRs. I didn't get to the gym last week because I was busy but did tension one legged fence squats. I didn't think I was going to get this 490 up. But I guess I went pretty hard in the tension squats to make up for it.
Will be going for 470 for 2 this week to try and get another PR for 2s day.
Power to weight ratio is increasing.
Did this as part of my linebacker training to try and increase power to weight ratio to sprint faster.
Approaching the absolute limit of what I can do on this under my current build and workout program. I might be able to get 5 to 10 more pounds more out of this at this current bodyweight. But that might be just about the highest I can get on this. Reaching about 98 percent of my max absolute potential in this.
All summer long I was stuck at 425 to 435 for 1 on this because of really bad hip tendinitis. So this is really good progress right now for me. Still not happy though. Still need to just try and lift more on this even if I do hit max potential on this for a natural and for my build and for my leverage...
But still might have previously under-estimated the damaging effects that cross country running and 400 meter dash training has had on me from 1993 till 2015. Still might be able to get stronger gradually. I'll have to see.
Can't wait though to go to the track and take this new power to weight ratio and run like .01 of a second faster and jump .01 of an inch further. It doesn't matter what I lift in the gym i'm always right around the same times and distances at the track. That's how slow twitch I am.
I need to get the fat off my lower back, obliques, and lower abs if I want to increase my power to weight ratio more. That doesn't seem to be working that well though. Seems like I can never get the lower abs good no matter what I do.
I'm also focusing in on going heavier and doing more calves to build up my calves more and more leg curls. I need to leg curl more if I want to sprint faster. I'm doing a few speed days a week also of just really quick workouts with a rubber band to focus on explosion. And i'm doing half jump verticals to focus on exploding off the ground. I'm gradually trying to build back some fast twitch muscle fibers that should have been there in college but weren't because of the muscle eating and muscle destroying lactic acid inducing distance running.
The lactic acid accumulation effect destroyed my muscles from the inside out. I can't grow shoulders, arms, any type of back muscle, or lats because of it.
I'm going to have to really go all out at the gym if I want to get faster. I'm just simply not lifting enough weight yet to run faster due to being slow twitch.
I didn't have my 3 to 4 cloves of garlic before attempting this. I forgot. I'll have to make sure I eat 3 to 4 cloves next week if I want to get more PRs. I let it burn my mouth for a good 2 mins by keeping it in my mouth then I do the PR attempt 30 seconds later. Works alot better than sniffing salts.
Next week i'll go for 495 for 1 at around the same bodyweight.
oh man I had no idea this was a spoof account my bad
We're all proud of you, Matt!
