After increasing my mileage about 15 miles per week from track season, my quads gradually went to the waste basket. Now They are just dead and I haven't been able to run hard in 2 weeks. I got drilled at a camp in the mountains last week and kids that have never outran me are killing me in practice. I was running real strong with the higher mielage for 3 or 4 weeks until my quads got sore and I pushed through it. Now other areas of my legs are tightening up and even with off days in the past 2 weeks I can't recover. Today was our team's first hard workout of official practice and even after going real easy recently I could only do 1/2 the workout. Are there any remedies or little fixes that can speed the recovery process. I'm very meticulous in all the little things that aid recovery like ice baths, massage, vitamins (as well as calcium and some iron pills), eating right, hydrating and getting the electrolytes and protein back in, stretching, sleeping 9 to 10 hours a night (though I only got about 6 to 7 at camp), doing flexibility work and drills and other strength work, etc. I've gone through all the possiblities and only come up with a tired body, esp. my legs. I don't feel dead or anyhting at home and feel pretty good in the beginning of the run but then my quads give out. If i continue icing and massage and stretching and light jogging with some pool work for a couple days, what else should I do to get my legs back underneath me asap and be able to do quality work again. I won't get back into higher mielage for a while and won't be as high as earlier this summer but I need to start my hard workouts to accomplish my big goals this year. Basically any info on the healing of dead legs (mainly my quads) and what I can do instead of wasting away precious days this summer without any good workouts like I've done the past 2 weeks. I need to get back to my fartleks and tempos and strength intervals asap and even get back to my longer distance runs. I've stopped my hill sprints and longer hill stuff since hills exaggerate the problem but would like to start those again when I'm fully recovered. Any helpful tips appreciated...
