Yuot would be All American in D1....so you're wrong
haha, f*** that. i feel bad for the guys in their region and conference.
Here it is, the order of finish for this year's D3 Cross Country Championship. Feel free to argue, debate, trash, correct, amend, addend, etc. The formatting is a bit strange, but it should be Athlete/Year/2004 National Place/2004 Regional Place/2005 Outdoor Marks. Times listed are 1500/Steeple/5k/10k (those I could find).

I had a hard time finding a worthy tenth team, with Grinnell, Carleton, Steven's PT, Wartburg, Hamline, and St.Olaf, among others, warranting consideration. NYU was awful at NCAAs last fall, but they seem to be a program on the rise and Williams and Abdullah made big strides last spring.
Before this thread gets taken over by the inevitable DIII v. DI debate, I'll just throw out a few corrections to the Williams squad.

Look for Cortland men to make an impact this year. Not top 5, maybe top 10, but at least top 15. I'm not joking. New coach lots of talent, they may be the best mens team ever at Cortland.
10th NYU?? i can guarantee WashU or UChicago ahead of them.
NCC has a sophomore who transfered in last year that has been doing amazing things this summer. He will crack the top seven for sure!
who is the soph transfer at NCC?...
NCC will finish top 3. They tend to be much stronger in XC than track...as history has shown. A 15:15 guy on that team is usually top 40 in XC. I speak from experience.
UChicago has some good freshmen coming in.
U Chicago has who? Names and stats please.
Normally I'd wonder where SUNY Geneseo is on that list, but seeing as they lost Turner (3:59/14:22/30:07), Beck(Boilermaker 15k 49:03, 9:15ish steeple) and Casey (9:07 steep, 8:24 3k) I can see how they wouldn't be expected to do much.
How about Individuals- who is going to be All American this year? Who are the best recruits?
How do you figure Cortland to be that good? They graduate (or have no remaining eligibility) Terry, Borg, Lynch, Crowley and Horan AND Cloke is not running XC. That leaves Joslyn as their lone returner from their top 7. I'll agree, they are getting a few talented freshman, but not that talented and not that many.
As for NYU, they always have good runners, do well early in the season and they choke at NCAAs.
Keene is going to be awesome they only lose bridgewater
Keene is on the decline. No top ten for them again this year. Sad, as they used to be a great program.
The TUXC team of 2004 had the most successful season in the program’s history. The Triple Crown (NESCAC, ECAC, and Regional Championships) was defended for a second consecutive year and the team placed 6th at Nationals, its highest finish ever. On top of this was the accomplishment of Josh Kennedy who finished 32nd at Nationals, earning All-American recognition.
However, despite all of this success, the Tufts Cross Country team of 2005 looks to make this upcoming fall a banner year. Key losses from the varsity seven include Nate Brigham, Brian McNamara, and Peter Bromka along with other key members including Dan Wolchonok, Aaron Kaye, and Mike Don. In the face of such departures, the TUXC team of 2005 has a core lineup of 6 members with experience at Nationals, lead by a strong senior class.
Those returning with championship experience include: Co-Captains Matthew Lacey and Matthew Fortin, seniors Kyle Doran and Neil Orfield, junior Josh Kennedy, and sophomore Chris Kantos.
The goals of the team remain the same as last year:
1. Repeat the Triple Crown for a third consecutive year
2. Earn a podium finish (Top 4) at nationals
Relying on another strong base building summer, the members of TUXC ’05 will see the first results of their training at the very casual alumni run hosted at the hilly Grafton farm course. Building off this “race” the team shall begin an exciting training schedule devised by the Co-Coaches Hob Brooks and Ethan Barron. These two have assisted and looked over the program for years and are ready to take command with the retirement of long time coach Connie Putnam.
This year the team hopes to take another step forward with a trip to a major invitational. Here the team will be able to face some of the division’s leading teams including Haverford, which will allow those in attendance to gain high end race experience.
On a more regional level, the main rival for the team remains the Ephs of Williams College, which will reload after the loss of some of their key seniors. The ECAC race, a true test of team depth, will also be determined by these same two teams as it has the past 2 years.
The problem with losing "just" Bridgewater is that Keene was neither strong nor deep after him last year. At regionals, their number 2 was 50 seconds behind him.
Returning, they have Gough (9:17 Steep), Ard (15:20/32:25), Haley (15:22), and Hegarty (15:24).
Concievably, they can pack it up and put their top 5 all in the 80-100 range at Nationals, but theat's pretty unlikely. A lot of teams have 15:20something 5k guys. Without anyone who looks like an All-American, it's hard to see them finishing in the top 10.
I don't agree with the NYU pick, but atleast they have two guys that look like possible all-americans (Williams-14:51 and Abdallah-30:33).
What's up with the Tufts coach posting their fall press release? I'm sure everyone here is impressed by their "hilly Grafton farm course."
