I wish there was a doping filter on Let's Run. Filter out all the useless drivel (apparently about 60-70%) and maybe these threads would be less of a chore. I don't get why people who are obsessed with doping bother posting here. If they think this sport is compromised to the point of . . . pointlessness, why not go watch rugby or something else?
Anyway, watching the last 1.x K of Bekele's run was excruciating. I could tell he was not shifting gears enough and he wasn't going to get it, even though it was within reach. Kipchoge ran 41 to 42K in 2:44. Second fastest split after the first km (and previous km was 2:48), but theoretically doable for Bekele to run a 2:40 or so in the end. It's 4:17 mile pace, and normally a a sub-2:08 final 800 does not sound like a problem for a guy who once ran an entire 10K at 4:13.79 pace. Does anyone know BK's last couple splits?
Bekele must have been giving it everything he had, just didn't have the energy for that extra gear in the end, understandable in the circumstances. But ouch, 2 seconds!
