The 2:18:11 woman will face former Olympic 5000m champ Meseret Defar (2:23:33 PB) and Olympic bronze medalist Mare Dibaba (2:19:52).
Bekele is the fastest in a field that includes six men in the 2:06 range or faster with the next fastest being Tokyo champ Leul Gebrselassie (2:04:02). Race director Mark Milde said they wouldn't be attacking Eliud Kipchoge's WR, but that he still expects a group running around 2:03 (61:30 is the planned halfway pace).
