You're trying to prove that D2 is more competitive than it is by comparing the nation of D2 with a non top tier D1 conference.
What I struggle to understand is why?
D2 is openly less competitive. You choose to compete in D2 knowing full well that it is separate from the competition of D1. You chose an easier level of competition.
I am not trying to "diss" or insult D2. I think its a great place to compete, I think its an amazing option to continue your passion for running and competition throughout college without the intensity of D1. But it is a lower level of competition. People get so riled up that it isn't as covered as D1, or that it is overlooked or doesn't get attention. Of course it doesn't. Why would it? People want to discuss the best runners and teams in the country. Certainly there is talent in D2 but nowhere near the depth and standard of D1. It's easy to see. I undestand that money and resources arent poured into basically a junior varsity, or minors version of running
I ran in D2, and was competitive. I loved it. But I chose to compete at a less competitive level.
What does "all american" mean in D2? I wouldn't be anywhere near all-american in D1. They aren't the same thing. They shouldn't be compared. They are different experiences, and D2 doesn't make you slow or less talented, but you do have to recognize your choices and be realistic about the differences.
