Little known Nepalese ex-soldier breaks record for scaling the worlds 14 highest peaks:
https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/27955904/nepalese-man-shatters-record-scaling-world-highest-peaksJust goes to show how meaningless all these white guys climbing these peaks truly are when some random guy can quit his job and 6 months later shatter the record. Climbing these things is way over hyped and has basically been for bored wealthy individuals until now. There are probably a dozen Sherpas that have done many of the things that guys like Jornet get fame for, but have done so carrying a bunch of junk for random millionaire with a god complex.
He's not some random unknown guy. He's well known within the climbing community, a phenomenal guide, and an even better person. I've done Makalu twice with him.
Would caution you in your statements based on what seems to be no experience on what goes on in the mountains or amongst the majority of expeditions. The "millionaire with a complex" is the extreme exception. Most of us are regular people with regular jobs that just enjoy climbing. The majority of the time, the loads are shared amongst ALL the team, as well as rope fixing. I understand that all you know is what you have read, but would rather encourage you to go get some firsthand experience on the subject before you discuss it as though you're an expert.
