Just read that Kilian is on his way to Everest for a speed climb, apparently he is maybe looking at a new route above camp 2 as well. Surprised I haven't read more about his attempt.

Why doesn't he go to Kilimanjaro? Does anyone else notice that you literally can't spell that mountain without Kilian?
Will he go all the way to the top this time?
your prayers have been answered.
He could be going back due to guilt. Obviously if it's a new route, of course it would be the fastest. Probably just wants to prove critics wrong. I'd advise him to ascend in daylight.
That proves that he wasn't up there the first two times around.

I started the field of logic back in 384—322 B.C.E. and here almost 2400 years later and this is where we are?
A hint: this proves nothing.
I called it that he would eventually go back because he was not satisfied with his attempt. The first attempt he had stomach problems so he did the second and had poor weather.
His sponsors were the ones hyping up his climbs.

Interesting. I climbed the Matterhorn and did the Breithorn Traverse with Egloff and a mutual friend in 2013. Not once did we ever talk about running. He's an incredible athlete.
climbing Everest is not impressive anymore. Even skiing down it is old. I want to see someone fling themself off in a wingsuit and glide all the way down.

They did and their lifeless body was later retrieved via helicopter.
Unless he's going up the Kangshung face, this is completely worthy of absolutely no ones attention.

I want to see a porno shot on the summit.

Good for him... I hope he doesn't end up like Ueli... I like him, I can't bear anymore the good folks dying like that...
Extreme altitude mountaineering is a "lottery" game, the longer you play it, the higher your chances are to lose, eventually:( Jut like the saying, there are BOLD mountaineers and there are OLD mountaineers, but there are no BOLD and OLD mountaineers...
"Played" at it when I was younger, got out before it became too addicting. It was fun... No matter what anybody says, too many things can go wrong, despite doing everything right... Just the way it is:(
Little known Nepalese ex-soldier breaks record for scaling the worlds 14 highest peaks:
Just goes to show how meaningless all these white guys climbing these peaks truly are when some random guy can quit his job and 6 months later shatter the record. Climbing these things is way over hyped and has basically been for bored wealthy individuals until now. There are probably a dozen Sherpas that have done many of the things that guys like Jornet get fame for, but have done so carrying a bunch of junk for random millionaire with a god complex.
