Be that as it may, your punctuation is atrocious. You would be well advised to compose yourself.
A mountain biker author and two mountain bikers he interviewed are of the opinion, based on vague anecdotal evidence, that mountain bikers do most trail work and trail runners and equestrians the least? lol just lol.
Who needs evidence when you have sensational and self-serving opinion?
mountain bikers are even lazier parasites than trail running parasites .
Not gonna bother to read the clickbait article, but ANECTDOTAlly, I think it’s clear that bikes do the most damage to trails so bikers should be the ones doing the most work to repair them. Any low places or muddy spots get absolutely wrecked by bikes. Have a few runners go over it and it’ll smooth itself out.
However, I would say the trail running community does less trail work and just takes advantage of the systems put in place by others simply as a result of the lack of organization. Not that there’s bad organization. There’s simply not “trail running” organizations or as much of a grouping up of trail runners because its so individual.
I've yet to see a mob of MUT runners "losing their minds" over this. Yes, I'm sure you could find a couple angry trail runners on twitter, but that's just as anecdotal as this sh!tty article.
The title is clickbait. The dude's mocking of trail runners also is stupid. But the article has some substance and I know what the guy is referring to. I have been working on trail building and maintenance since 2006. I can count the trail runners that have volunteered on one hand. I don't think many people realize how the trails actually got there.
The mountain bike groups have been very active with trail building in the area. They build good trails in short time and the trails should last awhile. But I find them anything from low impact. The windy single track cuts up way more hillside than a hiking trail. Bikes zooming through the forest scare away animals and basically make the trails unenjoyable for any other users. The presence of mountain bikes is high impact itself.
There are an increasingly amount of outdoor people that are more of the adrenaline, thrill seeking type rather than ones there for appreciating nature, quiet, solitude. I don't think many of these folks understand how they got access to these lands and the impact they have on them.
Not triggered by the article because I actually do trail work. Hopefully trail runners who haven't done trail work will consider it after this.
This article and headline were 100% written for clicks. He sounds like an angry biker looking to drum up an irrelevant culture war where no enmity previously existed.
Most of his lines are totally unsupported opinion. “Trail runners avoid puddles, mountain bikers go through them” is complete and utter BS. The notion that runners somehow have more of an impact on trails is absurd - there are exponentially more bikers and hikers than runners. And in my experience, trail runners are more in touch with the land they’re using than a casual hiker or a rich cyclist.
I had to double check to make sure this wasn’t an April fools article, it’s so ridiculous. I lost a lot of respect for Outside with this piece. The only stats he offered are cherrypicked from a single trail group. I worked for the forest service and BLM building and restoring trails for almost 2 years - I promise you, no one shares this dude’s absurd point of view.
How do bicyclists build trails? From what I've seen they just roll with their aggressive tires over the forest floor, killing plants and rutting the earth. After taking that route a few times, presto, a trail.

Every trail “runner” I know has complained about this article on social media. Every. Single. One.
The team discusses some of the excerpt's truth bombs, like how one person's poop is enough soon be time to make a decision to euthanize our 8-year-old Lhasa mutt.

Are there good links about runners complaining about this? In our area I've never seen or heard of anyone but bikers doing trail work. I've seen bikers build trails then years later walkers and runner try to get the bikers banned - even though bikers are still the only ones maintaining it. Probably a matter of lack of understanding, but pretty painful to see. That's coming from someone that rides about 5 times a year.
Go f*ck yourself. Period.

Well, it's an intentionally irritating article in a prominent magazine. Obviously people are going to complain about it.
Side note -- what's with all the hate on LR for people running on trails? Most serious runners I know like to get out to trails when they can. It sure beats running on busy roads.
You just need to look at the braking bumps going into corners to see the how much damage chasing a KOM on a mtn bike does. Watch some videos to see them chasing the biggest roost - very cool, look at all that dirt. When I ride I'll see a trail runner once in a blue moon; you're way more likely to see ignorants unloading their bike as soon as a storm is hitting because it's only fun if you get dirty.

Anyone? I found a couple tweets. Nothing much. Seems as though no one wants to bother prove the article wring - they just wanna feel mad.
MUT hobby-joggers are, for the most part, entitled, self-righteous, vain, and selfish. What's new?
