It was a very windy and very hot day on a black track.

I did a sharpener workout today.
2x1200 @ 3:26 (7min rest) [times: 3:25, 3:26]
then
4x400 @ 1:06 (20 sec rest) [times: 1:03, 1:06, 1:07, 1:09]
Personally, I felt my coach should've done a 200/300 jog in between the 400s instead of 20 seconds.
Will keep you guys posted on my state performance, I'm seeded 12th of 16 and the top 8 medal.
Do keep updated!
Dehydrated, I finished the race last, and had a migraine. Sitting out in the sun all day waiting for my race sapped my energy. My coaches didn't bring a tent and put us on the stands for 6 hours.
But once I got to the race I just couldn't focus. Just sort of watching.
splits:
1:06
1:08
1:13
1:20
Finished the race and had to go straight home to get fluids and a meal..
I'm going to take a few days of easy jogs before building my mileage for senior XC.
Thank you guys for trying to help me, I appreciate it.
You needed to go off and hide in the shade....like us from 35 years ago would do. No one is ever going to run well sitting in the sun for 6 hours. You have good talent and off your PR''s should have had a better season. Unfortunately the coaching you have received has probably let you down. Good luck in XC.
Coaches insisted on us watching jumps and teammates, so I could not.

Total nonsense on their part.
Tell them you have to go to the restroom, then don't go back until after your race is over.
When I ran at state, I didn't get in the stand until after my race. It was 98 degrees.
The best team in the state were all huddled under some trees.
The great thing is that you still have another year to compete and improve. Good for you!
fun to follow this. sitting in the sun probably had an effect. when you went out in 66 were you in last? if you had gone slower would you be off the back? it seems like you would be better suited to go through 800 in 2:16 and then try to maintain. I'm sure the 66 very well could have been a 31/32 & then a 34/35. Gotta run even & you'll crush your times off of that alone. nobody runs even in HS. you'll pass a lot of people the last 600 of a well paced race.
I was in the middle of the pack. I came through the 800 in 2:14, at the end of the pack.
The first place guy was 2:12 then 2:01 and the top 5 guys had similar splits.
