Doing first marathon in a few weeks (age 39):
Last year based on ~70km/week training I did the following PRs
Half marathon: 1:21.00
10km: 36:40
5km: 17:50
Since February I've upped my training to 100km/week and the last 4 weeks at 130km/week. Although a fairly big jump, I feel I've responded well and not feeling too tired. A typical week includes 2 workouts (intervals/hills, etc..) plus a workout thrown into a long run to end the week.
don't know how much these would predict marathon but here are some workouts in the last few weeks while doing the 130km weeks:
6 x 1km (2min rest) @ 3:21km
8 x 1km (2min rest) @ 3:30km
4 x 5km (1km rest) during 35km run @ 4:00/km pace
3,4,5,4,3km (1km rest) during 35km run @ 3:55-4:05 pace
in my mind I'm thinking 2:50 goal pace for marathon but unknown distance. Any thoughts on what i "should" be able to do?
