That is not really a good idea. Dishwashers get paid minimum wage or more. Servers get WAY less than minimum wage because they are tipped. Minimum wage right now for tipped employees is $2.13.
Just tip your server. You're no hero trying to go around the system. If a dishwasher doesn't want to make $10 an hour or whatever it is they are getting paid, then they can go get another job. Same is true with the servers.
You people who b!tch about tipping are really bitter people. Being bitter is a choice. Decide to change.
Flagpole, you sound bitter because you can’t afford to move to Burbank. If you ever do make the move, you’ll be paying 10.25% in sales tax. Let’s see how much you feel like tipping then.
??? Who says I can't afford to move to Burbank? That might be where I go. I actually really like Burbank. Haven't decided exactly where yet.
If the difference in sales tax between 7% and 10.25% makes a person sweat, then they shouldn't be going out to dinner pretty much ever. Eating at home and the very occasional fast food meal is for those people. I plan to retire to Southern California (likely the LA area) and eat out as often as I want to. Staying within your means and investing as much as you should makes that happen.
I NEVER sound bitter because I never AM bitter.
Anyone who has a stick up their ass over tipping shouldn't go out to eat.
