At his age and with this setback, Galen can no longer compete with the top Americans, many of them foreign born. A very nice career you had though Galen.

I'm not an AlSal fan nor a Rupp fan but I think he'll make more teams. And if I'm wrong and you're right, so f'n what?! He's had a pretty strong career!
He could PW by 5 minutes in the ‘thon and still be our best guy

Which shows how much we suck.

You guys haven't been paying attention. Galen has made his last U.S. team. There are a handful of U.S. guys who could run under 2:10 this year.

False.

Handful of guys that did it or could do it?
Because I could of run 2:20 based on my workouts but didn’t.
oh come on he's run 2:06 for the marathon. what has anyone else in the US done, 2:10 at best?
there's no way he doesn't make the next Olympic team in the marathon, unless this injury is way worse than advertised. he's just that far ahead of the rest of US men's marathoning right now.
He ran 2:08 on the injury (knowingly).
He’s getting the injury fixed.
He’s significantly better than his US competition.
Logic tells me he’ll be just fine.
I do believe he ran 2:06 on said injury?
Remember, he ran 2:06 twice!
Add 4 minutes to Rupp's time, since he's been wearing shoes with the carbon plate for all his marathons (hint, PF).
And ya'll can shut the hell up about the foam being All That in the 4%, because without the plate (PF) you can't even stand in the clown shoes.
All they did was glue his tendon back together in a couple spots and maybe scrape a bump off his heel bone. He'll be back in no time, better than ever.
It all depends on the quality of glue they used. I'm sure NOP can afford the best.
Wheee, this will be fun! Get ready knees, other foot, hips, lower back, shoulders!
Not to mention NOT running in the Cheaterfly. Hello, Mr. Dad Shoes!

Honestly what does this even mean?
I'm so astounded by your consistent lunacy.
Fwiw: Rupp will be back and he will easily make the marathon team again. Every one here hoping for his demise are as delusional as they come and have likely been plotting and predicting Rupp's downfall since he smoked Chris Son-linsky at the Oregon Twilight 5k way back in 2007.
Meb was supposedly washed up when he had a serious hip injury back in about 2009, but wins running a PR at Boston in 2014 at almost 39 years of age. I never count guys like this out.
Agreed. I don't even like Rupp (well, nothing I against Rupp - it's Salazar I find unpalatable). Guys don't fade away at age 32 anymore. He's probably got 5-10 good years left. Ugh.
another pathetic troll.
Two-time US Gold Medal Winner Frank Shorter was never quite the same after foot surgery in 1978.

Getting surgery today is way different from the 70s. ACL surgeries used too be a career ender. Now athletes get them, and are right back to where they were before the injury within a year. TBH, I would not be surprised if he runs a sub 60 half in the fall and crushes it in the trials thon.

You label me a troll due to your ignorance. I know much more about this than you do. Galen is not ever going to be the same runner that he was prior to the injury. Galen’s career as you knew it, representing the U.S., is over.
BREAKING: Leonard Korir not going to Paris! 11 Universality athletes get in ahead of him!
Hicham El Guerrouj is back baby! Runs Community Mile in Oxford
What is the most stupid running advice you've ever heard?🤣(It can be funny)
Are Asics, Saucony, and New Balance envious of Brooks, Hoka ,and On?
