Some of us down here (Houston area) don't see that as a positive.

Yeah, between the lack of sidewalks and the general opposition to physical activity, it is hazardous to your health to run there. When my wife and I would go for long runs, we typically went and did laps around McAllister park or up at Government Canyon. Running around neighborhoods was straight dangerous.

Government Canyon is the one saving grace of living here for anyone from someplace with seasons, rules of the road, and actual mountain trails.
Yeah, 80 in early February only sounds good if you’re in Chicago where it’s 60 below. I’ll take snow over Gulf coast weather any day.
Thank you for your post.
Eff off jamin!

I dug up an old pair of larger sized spikes that I could wear socks with and did my usual 7.5 miles mostly in the park (ran icy side streets to get there which the spkes handled no problemo). Laps on the soccer field to get in some easy cruising then 10 x hill repeats to get in some variety. Had to wear sunglasses which I never do in Seattle even in summer.
Yesterday was brutal at times with the N wind off Green Lake
Did your mommie have hot soup for you when you returned?
track workout with half of the track very icy and slippery. Definitely slowed things down quite a bit but that's okay becuase i wasn't too keen on running hard when it's this cold out anyway. The cold actually didn't feel bad as long as it wasn't hammering the lungs.
I took two days off. Why not? Rest that refreshes. I'm running tomorrow.
Wasnt that bad. I have some trails around my neighborhood in redmond.

Thanks for giving us a hobbyjogger perspective on the weather.
Run on the grass. Run on trails. Put on trail shoes for more traction.
The snow on grass and dirt is less likely to have frozen or re-frozen into ice as well.

Hope Seattle is ready for a lot more snow! #prayforjamin
The Arboretum has been pretty much fine for the last few days. It's getting up and down Madison to GET there that has been the death trap. Today should be fine, but this next round of snow might make things a bit more challenging.
Update: It's still cold and snowy in the Midwest, where it's always cold and snowy during the winter. Runners are running as usual.

Redmond is where I live and usually where I run. Mostly up by Hartman Park and around the High School and the general vicinity. Lots of ice and snow up there now.
Wtf. It was like -50 here last week.

I ran at Green Lake around 2:00pm on Tuesday the 5th. A bit of a wind coming out of the north and across the lake. It was sunny and nice out. I do wear sunglasses because of the glare of all the ice and snow. On the inner path and even the outer path the snow isn't the problem. It's the bare ice that is difficult to run on at times.
I wear sunglasses in the summer as it can be very bright at times.
Anyone looking forward to the next round this weekend? It's coming.....
Last chance to get in that run before round 2. I'm lacing up now and headed out the door....

I'll be out in about 2 more hours. Hope it's not snowing like a blizzard then.
