Knight only runs 50 mpw, he also only runs 13:18.

Interesting. What are this “Justin Knight” character’s PRs?
On a somewhat related note, does anyone know what type of mileage Justyn Knight puts in? That dude is legit.
It always amazes me that people will look at an athlete who has never exceeded a certain training load and declare that this athlete in question is one of those rate types who doesn't thrive off a typical, high training load.
If Knight had been around a while and run better off sustained periods of 50 miles a week than off periods of 75 ot 100 miles a week, all else the same, then you might have a case for "Knight's just one of those guys who does better on less."
But when there is no basis for comparison, it's just dumb to say this. Really dumb. Every indication is that a guy training only this much who has run very very good times can run great times by putting in more. And he no doubt plans to.
(There's also the fact that people take it on faith that 50 miles a week is really the max he's done. Maybe, but people have been known to report falsehoods as facts.)
First, these are the golden years. The U.S. has never had such Olympic success at the distances, never such high school times, never such depth below the marathon. Second, in the previous golden age of the 1970s and early 1980s, our top guys did high mileage. Even Steve Scott, our best miler in the late 1970s and 1980s, ran in the 80s or above. See Steve Scott's 1982-83 training log on this site.

Jamin, you aren't Justyn Knight. He is a genetic freak. That's like a up and coming MMA fighter barely training ever, because that's what Jon Jones does.
Lol. comparing him to the overhyped uber-cheat Jones. Are you saying Knight is a doper as well? MMA is a joke. No reasonable person watches that anymore. How do you penalize some for doping but let Jones fight when you know he's on some high octane drug cocktail?
Anyone can last 3-5 busy rounds when doped like he was and still is.
Knight is overhyped as he doesn't have a single outstanding mark, but not nearly hyped as much as Jones.

Jon Jones probably only recently started doping(my guess is after 2013). Look at older pics of him, he was a toothpick. Than he started "powerlifting" and got jacked. If I had to bet on it, I would guess he was clean until this happened.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ufc/article-3325137/Jon-Jones-shows-dramatic-power-lifting-transformation-says-s-preparing-April-UFC-title-fight-Daniel-Cormier.htmlSo my guess is that for the most part of his career he was clean.

Wow, that was a terrible post even by the standards of letsrun.

He'll do even better when he tries higher mileage

Justyn Knight is Canadian.
Justin Knight will have to run that extra 50mpw to run 10 to 20 sec/mile faster depending on the distance. That is how things work. Until then, he will just be a top Canadian runner at best.

So you're saying if he runs 100 MPW he will have a 5000m PR of 12:44 and a mile PR of 3:36?

I would not be shocked if he puts in the mileage and runs those times.
