Toxic femininity has been talked about for thousands of years. It comes up pretty early in the bible (remember Eve). It was thought to be a greater threat to civilization than toxic masculinity, which is why it was highlighted so much.
What is new is not talking about it. (Last 50 years maybe).
What is newer still is an ad for product targeted at men, which highlights toxic masculinity (10% of male population) and states that virtually all male have that trait. In addition, they are planning to show it at the Super Bowl. That company is now getting rewardeded for stating that (P&G stock went up 4.9% yesterday). Expect a flood of similar commercials in the next years.
Interesting times. Pretty easy to see where this will lead. We have to go there however it seems.
I am planning to show an ad for a female product, highlighting toxic femininity. Let's see how that gets accepted.
