Wont you miss Eugene..?
Wont you miss Eugene..?
I thought he was moving to Flagstaff to work at the altitude training cneter (?).
Of course I will miss Eugene. I will miss the trails, track meets, and history. Life moves on. I will be back to watch races. Family comes first, though.
Besides family what is attractive about Boise..?? serious question..I have heard wonderful things about Boise...just wondered what you thought was nice...Hope all goes well
I'm also curious why boise.
I was thinking of moving to wenachee, but it turns out they have an aluminum smelter there so that's out.
Now on the list are walla walla, idaho falls, and perhaps boise could be there too.
The advantages include having a semi arid (dry) climate.
Boise has seasons but the air is drier than many places in the midwest and eastern parts of the USA. Boise has many trails (a very long bike path along the river, dirt trails gallor along the north side of the city, and trails out by Eagle, ID). One can go alpine skiing just 1.5 hours away at McCall or go to Sun Valley. The cost of living is quite low. Newer houses are quite reasonable. There is an avid running community there, many races, and a very good indoor track which has several meets to watch or participate in. The people remind me of those in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Iowa. My wife's family members are in the vicinity, so that is a plus for us.
Much agreed T-man! I'm from Twin Falls, ID about 2hrs south of Boise. Boise has great scenic runs, and Bogus is good for altitude and steady running(be aware of many, many bikers up there though :-(, so yes Boise is a great place to run because many people are out doing the same, a healthy community to say the least. I have done some workouts and watched races in Nampa, where the indoor track is, 200 meters i believe and fast....downfall it is also where they put on horse shoes, so at times u get the smell of dirt and etc. Well good luck with running in BOise and hit up a few miles for me on the Green Belt near the BSU campus.
What makes you think that Tinman is "movong"?
Waldo,
Is there and running scene in Twin Falls, ID? Weekly runs, races, clubs, trails, etc. I am considering moving there.
Thanks!!
Boise and Spokane are similar:
Boise home prices are higher, altitude is 2838 to 2356, comfort index the same, 7 degrees hotter in Boise in summers (hot!), less snow in winter, winter temps the same, more sunshine in Boise and less rain.
Air quality slightly better in both places.
Water quality sucks in Spokane, and is total crap in Boise, which has a rating of "20", compared to the national average of "50".
There's a great running tradition in Spokane, note the great high school runners from there.
Any good high school running history from Boise?
why is the water so bad there?
Tinman, when is the move..??...are you a riverrat kind of guy..?
My wife and I are looking for a house in the Meridian, Star, Eagle area soon. We intend to move before the next school year starts.
I lived in Spokane before. I liked the running scene. Lots of drugs, though. The scenery was awesome. Bloomsday is super! Boise has a good running scene too, perhaps not historically with the same breadth.
I lived in Idaho Falls in grade school.
It was nice but that was a long time ago.
What kind of drug problems? Is that the same in all the northwest?
Actually, Crstal Meth is a huge problem in the northwest, having spread from California to places like Spokane and Eugene. Springfield, which adjoins Eugene, is the Crystal Meth capital of the world, according the local news on tv. They define it as a per capita ratio. Spokane was and may still be having enormous problems too.
Tinma, How do the home prices compare...and is Boise alot colder then Eugene..?
Actually crystal meth is a problem EVERYWHERE these days, I think it is the number one drug problem in every state.
No aluminum smelter in "wenachee" (sic)
Actually not everywhere..I dont even hear of it on east coast..its crack and herion here
