I've never understood why people spend so much time working on the appearance of their body and then mess it up with a bunch of shitty tattoos.

It's an extra flag for attention.

Sad!
Only a jelly 115 pounder would assume you have to be roided to look like that.
The guy obviously lifts, and not just for 'running specific functionality'.
Pretty easy to keep that muscle mass, which looks more than it is because he has such low body fat due to his mileage.
Not sure what you're looking at, but I see a roided out body with some serious love handles.
His body fat is probably within the 12-15% range. Definitely not lean.
Guys like him won't last long in this sport. Carrying around an extra 30 pounds for vanity purposes is hell in terms of wear/tear on your joints.
I have nothing against people doing whatever they want with their bodies. If you want to take steroids though, definitely understand the long term consequences (hair loss, shrinkage, gyno).
Shaves his neck and his chest. Nice.
No way in haiiiil is he 115 pounds.
I was looking anorexic when I was near that weight range.

None of your post is accurate.

Let the guy live, who cares, really? He has a certain flair that has probably inspired a lot of people, across the world. That's more than some elites can say. Others who have met him have stated on these blogs he's a very nice guy, so just leave it at that.

People are morans. You included Coevett. 2/10 for making me reply.
I have heard that in Italy (and maybe other European countries), it is in poor taste to run shirtless.
But in America the chicks like it if you're buffed. ?
Doesn't look a day over 49. Also, I don't know about 115 pounds, looks closer to 85 pounds to me. I'm guessing the height is about 7 feet, so the BMI is about 47. 2 hours 30 minute mile is very impressive for someone who has 8 legs.
I forgot to mention about the cutting, that is very sad that he does this, no doubt the blood loss makes him much faster though. Though I think the advantage should be more than 6 hours for there to be need to disqualify.
I just realized this is probably a joke topic, so ignore my comments.

Hi Patrick!
He looks like he’s lost 10-20lbs from this, when he was 180lbs:

I kind of admire him...not for the IG stuff...but for his time of 2:30-something. Very very respectable. I'm impressed with anyone who can get under 3 hours. Also, he runs only 50-70 miles a week which shows some real talent. I don't know, I'm not bothered by him.
Also, I am envious of anyone who can put in uninterrupted training and not be bothered with kids, marriages, crazy work hours, commutes, etc. I miss those days.
He’s a bit bigger than I was but I was always 10-20lbs heavier than runners of similar height. I didn’t even lift until I stopped competing. He could get down to 2:20 if he stopped lifting and lost some muscle.
Alan
Never seen a dude like run a 2:30 marathon.
He looks like a degenerate that just popped out of a WWE tournament, or a trailer park full of meth heads, or an annoying Harley Davidson biker gang.

Hi Patrick!
HA! I wish I had his 2:35 on my marathon resume. Just a regular LRC'er and runner who's played out from trolls that spout envy, and childish bs because of their own insecurities.

Exactly. It needs to be race, gender or economic class.

Giant calves like that aren't optimal for running. Not even Chris Solinsky looks like that.
I know Patrick as he is close friends with a friend of mine and we have overlapped at half a dozen races. I have seen threads like this about him before and am always disappointed to see people make anonymous accusations about others. I cannot speak to whether the guy is clean or not, but I would never, ever suggest otherwise unless I had a basis for making that assertion beyond "He is fast for a guy carrying that much muscle." It is unfair and in bad taste, regardless of his social media presence.
I will say that he is, as far as I can tell from the dozen or so conversations that I have had with him and from what I know about him from his friend, a genuinely nice guy. He also doesn't drink, works a labor intensive job and maintains a healthy diet. I would also say that while he carries a lot of muscle, he is actually not that big in person. I am a small guy, but when I stand next to him, he really isn't all that much taller or broader than me. If he weighed more than 170, I would be very surprised.
I will say that I am not a totally neutral party because I know the guy, but even if I didn't know him, I think anonymous public accusations without any solid proof beyond the "eye test" is just weak.
