I would say it's a little light. I don't know about "Ethiopian" or anything...but you could probably stand for a few more pounds. I had a friend that was 5'8" and weighed 118-120 lbs. and she was a little light, but she was probably perfect around 128-130, so with the few more inches of height that you have would constitute a little more weight. Don't worry about your friends...are they runner friends? All my "friends" that weren't runners never understood what my body needed to look like to be a good runner. I was very thin, but very healthy, they couldn't understand that, while my teammates knew I was fine. Hope that helps. Remember, everyone has different body types. Be sure to factor in how much you're running and how intense your training is. (more miles=more calories, etc.)
Dude do not try to gain weight as long as you are healthy!
GEEEEEEEEZZZZZ....
If you look like you are from east africa then that is great!
It takes a concerted effort to gain weight when participating in endurance exercise. You burn a fair amount of calories when running, which when eating ad libitum would not be replaced - in other words runners tend to not eat enough to make up for burned calories if they only eat when hungry. Thus runners generally snack or take rest days that allow for replenishment. In your case (and mine) it would feel like you are stuffing yourself in order to get enough calories to gain weight. Also, you must make an effort to do some resistance training in order to build muscle, which is good weight.
Overall, ask yourself if you really need to gain weight. If yes, then start eating dense snacks such as nuts and dry fruit along with good sources of protein and of course loads of carbs. Also, try to keep your muscle glycogen stores topped off after running (gatorade, quick candy, etc) in order to make sure extra calories can build muscle.
Good luck.
Also...on how to do it? Just eat more! Pretty simple. Try to put GOOD food into your body (fruits, veggies, healthy carbs, etc.) If you get full (which I often do when I'm trying to consume a lot of calories) throw in a Balance bar or one of those "bars" (PowerBar etc) just to throw in a few more calories. It's easier than trying to fit in an entire extra meal during the day! But don't rely on that alone.
