10k record is still 26:46 by Farah. What was lowered was 10 km record

This is the road 10k.
Mo holds the accurate track record.
I wondered when someone got round to pointing out the difference between a track record and a road ‘record.’
Back in more rational times, all road times were declared best times, not for record purposes as quite obviously all road courses varied, a great deal in some cases.
Yes but by contrast all xc courses are so identical in terrain/wind/rain levels that you can compare performances down to the 100th of a second right here on LetsDumb.com and drone on about 'course records' golly gosh.

10k Road record is held by Leonard Komon (26'44"). So the "at least a minute or so" is vastly overstated... not to say you dont have that many guys that manage to dip under 27'30" on the road to begin with.... And Wanders time is similar to those of the two Robertsons who are no slouch.....
It's a road record. Nobody cares about the road record except for perhaps the OP.
Right. Who cares about Kipchoges record. What is the track marathon record? Thats what we need to know!
LOL this thread is the dumbest thing I've read on here.
I realllllly dislike Mo Farah and root against him whenever he's racing. But this is a meaningless record, his 10,000m time is almost a minute faster. Devastated? I think he's doing just fine.
I would be surprised if Farah even remembered he had this record.

But they missed the 10k record of 26:17.53 by Kenenisa Bekele by quite a long ways.

Thanks for accepting today's Special Kind of Stupid (The SKoSSY) award.
Well done!

Stupid post.
Mo didn’t race. Therefore he didn’t ‘go home devastated.’
He did if he was away from home when he heard about it.

He just won the Chicago marathon in a PR time, probably netting half a million in the process.
He’s not devastated. I agree with the other poster: he probably didn’t realize he even had the record to begin with. The guy’s got much bigger fish to fry.

There you go... you seem butt-hurt a lot by Sir Mo....

He certainly forgets to be home when the testers come a knockin...

WTF? Everybody's 10000 time is like a minute faster than their 10km time on the roads. Seriously?
10km records are huge. You should know that. In the world of road running, it's:
1: Marathon record
2: 10km record
3. Half Marathon record
4. 5km record
5. 20km record
Maybe you're thinking about the 15km? or 25km? That's more of a meaningless record, but don't give me the crap about a 10km being meaningless. That's just plain dumb.

A minute off? Not true. 30 seconds perhaps.
Again: I really dislike the guy, he’s absolutely insufferable. I am always hoping he loses in his final kick. The guy’s clearly doping. But the way you guys r posting, it’s as if he was soundly beaten in a race.
I imagine it’s not an important record to him and he could take it back tmrw if he wanted to.

Records always get taken away from someone, medals do not (assuming not doping)

As Seb Coe said records are only borrowed.
