I hear platform shoes have better support.
Its for those short asians... midgets need to run too
I'm gonna hold off until they get more Air in them midsoles. I want cushioning, dammit! Cushioning!!
Strangely though...not much heel lift.
Actually, this shoe is more responsive than it looks. I wore a prototype of it for a couple months. I loved it as a slow/easy day trainer. Used it for hill reps while in Austin over the Christmas holiday, it sure saved on the pounding on the downhill recovery jogs.
Skylon, do you know when this shoe will hit the market?
What happens when you get a puncture?
Easy, that's why the price is so high, free parachute with pair of sneakers.
Spring 2006
I actually was one of the wear-testers for this shoe last fall - what a joke! The thing was extremely hot ( Two uppers - the pleather outside and another underneath), along with being way overcushioned and extremely stiff. I was embarassed to train in them - they look like something one would wear to dance in. From what I can see, they didn't change it at all.
Wow, what a beast of a shoe! Wonder how much that sucker weighs!
I don't know what excites me more, the Air Max 360 or that new Asics "shox" Shoe. Either way $160 clams...
damn i can practically buy 4 tires for me car at that price...
I wonder if i could use them as tires!!
Are Asics bringing out a "shox" shoe ???
Have you seen it ?
It's not neccessarily a "shox shoe" but they have put for gel columns in the heel of the foot that semi-resembles a shox shoe. The coolest thing about it, is they found a new material to replace the everyday EVA foam with that is 30% lighter and more durable and responsive. Apparently that is the catch for pricing the shoe at $165 retail. I've never actually seen the shoe... this is just relayed info from my manager.
I hope they put these next to the Nike Free displays to help test the irony-detection of shoppers. After all, today's shoes are too built up to allow natural movement and strength of the foot...
I've seen the spec of the Asics shoe and a couple of photos. The shoe, called the Kinesi, is an extension / improvement on the Nimbus VII. The IGS system has been developed, thus providing the support of the Kayano but without the weight or lowered flexibility.
They are using a new SPEVA called Solite that is much lighter. They also have this material in the new Kayano - which I have run in and is excellent!!
165 dollars for the Kinesi - they're quoting 140 quid in the UK!!
This shoe is clearly not for serious runners. Anyone who needs THAT much cushioning has a bunch of weight they should lose.
