So. Mr Rupp is handed a severe lesson is marathon racing by Sir Mohammed Farah. Mohammed was perfect, he dictated the pace and race and Galen failed. He’s rightly dejected and upset. Mohammed is awesome. God Save the Queen.

You're just jealous because you can't even do a 5k at his marathon pace.
Moron! Rupp ran a 2:06, go try and run 2 to 3 miles at the pace he ran for 26.2 miles! Idiot!

Cool story bro. Are you mad? You’re runner FAILED. Went home - DEVASTATED. Lol
As I said a in a thread last week - Rupp is not in the same class as Sir Mo, never has been. Just because he moved up to Marathon whilst Mo was still hoovering up 10k Golds didn't change that.
However it's never been Mo vs Farah anyway. The guy's just doing his best, trying his hardest, so U.S. fans should still be supportive of him for trying...
Mo has only run 3 marathons. Too early to tell. Eventually every marathoner has an off day. And if your off day is 2:06 well your doing ok.

Racist. His dad is British. You horrible racist. Please get cancer, please.
Mo is from Somalia. That’s a fact. You seem like you might have mental problems. Consider medication, therapy or a life coach.

exactly. Galen has been incredibly consistent if you consider all of his marathons as a whole. besides Boston, a race in which many other pros dropped out, Rupp has not had a single bad marathon. even today, although he may be a bit disappointed, on an "off" day he's still able to tough it out and regroup to come back in the last stages and run 2:06! that's actually encouraging. he probably learned more from this kind of tough race and can regroup. once he gets over the initial disappointment, he'll realize there are a lot of positives to take away.
First American Male by 7 minutes!
2nd American male at 2:13! Top American woman at 2:32!
Thread title should read....
AMERICA GOES HOME DEVASTATED!
Yep. The race played well for Mo. He ran a great race.
I thought the pacing in this marathon was a bit inconsistent.
2:06 is a great race. But I think this would be a good time to take a break from training for the marathon. If he wants to be a factor in 2020 this is the time. You can only go to the well so many times. Although would like to see Mo and Galen in Boston. In a championship race with hills.
If I were Galen, which I'm not, I'd go to London and shoot for a low 2:05 -- maybe even 2:04:57.
I feel like he consolidated his gains today, showing he can run low 2:06 consistently, and the next big step will be a dramatic time drop
Why do the LR boards hype American running so much when it's just not competitive at the sharp end in any race with a bit of competition.
Lots of talk, zero delivery.

Correcto.

Im not sure why we are are down on Galens performance.
His time today is the 3rd fastest ever by an American. Only Khalid and Ryan have run faster, note Khalid has two 2:05's one being a world record to put Galen's performance into perspective. Khalid and Ryan do not have an Olympic medal in the marathon event.
Today's run clearly makes him the greatest American marathoner of all time.

Which is, in itself, embarrassing.
If you drop your pR by three minutes and your are devastated then I’ll take devastation all day, personally.
