and if so, what does it feel like, i got some pain, i'm not sure what it is? Suspect it could possibly be a hernia. I don't want to go to the doc unless i think it's seriuos.

nope, not ed, sorry
Haven't had it worked on yet but I've gone to 3 Drs....all said I didn't have a hernia. I believe I have a 'sports hernia.' Search for that on the internet and see if your symptoms are similar. I've got pain in a specific location - lower left side of groin area - that is painful at all times but more painfull after speedwork. I cannot do sit-ups anymore and the pain is pretty bad the day after speedwork. I have had it for 6 months now. I've tried resting completely (6 weeks) and lifting wts on it (really painful). Neither has worked.
A friend of mine had similar problems from Ice Hockey and went to Milwaukee to have it scoped and repired. He said it cannot be seen without going in and scoping the area. There was never any bulging that accompanied his injury.
I believe a Detroit Tigers player just had the surgery recently. He went to Philly to get it repaired. There are a few threads here that deal with this as well.
No, but a college teammate of mine, once got a hernia playing foosball. Guess he went down in a heap. Ouch.
If it hurts when you cough, sneeze or do abs that is not a good sign.
I had a similar prob once.. I was put on some Vioxx and it helped A LOT... But it wasn't a hernia, it was a pulled muscle or something in my groin
Hernia= part of your intestine coming through a tear in your abdominal wall pushing against your skin.. or something like that, right?
chk threads related to athletic pubalgia...
Usually runners get it if their name is BROWNIE.
I had one, and these were the symptoms:
1. It is a nagging pain on either side that doesn't really go away and doesn't feel terrible enough to stop when you are running
2. It flares up when you race or go fast, moreso as the race goes on
3. You feel good walking around normally, but as soon as the fast stuff comes, then you feel it
4. After you do hard stuff, it is hard to cool down
I went into the doctor and when I turned to the side and coughed, he put his entire pinky up there.
I had it scoped and repaired, and it never bothered me again. After you have surgery, it hurts to walk for a couple days, and you have to take 1-2 weeks off, but it's worth it. Especially if you ever want to go to Somalia or something, where there are no doctors. If your intestine slips into that hole, you are screwed.
