I've always been a Cubs fan,,,and a Minnesota Viking fan.
I'm f***ing perennial loser..but this just might be the year for both teams.

I love your spirit "maintaining", but I don't necessarily agree about biased reporting as far as the scubs are concerned (the Red Sox are another story). I think every reporter pretty much knows that the Cubs are f***ed if Wood and Prior aren't healthy for the entire second half. Besides, even if they are healthy they could still lose the division by 10+ games, and I'll tell you why.
1. their bullpen is as bad as ours was in 2003 (or worse?), and Wood and Prior can't fix that entirely.
2. Prior and Wood can't AT ALL fix the huge holes in their line-up no matter how hard they try.
3. Our line-up becomes exponentially scarier with a healthy Rolen in it.
P.S. I wouldn't say 2003 was a fluke for the cubs, but I will say that the presence of a healthy Izzy that year would have secured another division title for us, and likely prevented the cubbies from even making the postseason.
Can I get some love for the Cubbies! They are probably the hottest team in baseball and they have started their winning ways against the Dodgers, Padres, and now the Sox. And they are doing it without their top two pitchers, although Wood is going on assignment this week and should be in the rotation in two weeks! Plus, despite all the injuries, they are only 5 games behind the Cardinals. Is it too early to start saying this is the year, because they should make the playoffs via divisdion title or wildcard. Lets give the Cubs some love!
I was there yesterday. I sweated my ass off but it was the best game I've attended in a while. After all the injuries they have had, I'm really pumped. If Corey Patterson continues to struggle, he may be the trade bait to bring in some late season help. The center fielder/leadoff hitter of the future, Felix Pie is tearing it up in AA ball and may be ready to jump to the show.
Big Props to all the Boston fans in town for the weekend. Really nice people, made the game a lot of fun and are a lot of fun to talk baseball with. The fans from Boston are the polar opposite of the hillbilly white sox fans that venture from their trailer parks to the North side for 3 games every year.
The Cubs are the 2nd best team in Chicago
Derrek Lee MVP!
CARDINALS-1st place.
ALBERT PUJOLS- MVP.
Thank you.
Long live the curse that nobody outside of chicago cares about.
Hey Cardinal freak,
Go back to east st louis !
Or maybe you can get swept again in the World Series.

Look, I'm as big a cards fan as you can be, and I'll admit that Cardinal Fan was more than obnoxious with his post. However, I must say that I'm dissappointed in (but not surprised with) your lame attempt at a comeback. "or maybe you can get swept again in the world series?" Fine, but do you really want to be known as the franchise that perenially finishes 15 games behind the team that can't win a world series game? Think about it. Then see if you can't get Kerry Wood healthy enough to win 15 games one of these years.
you apparently aren't a real cubs fan. this year is never the year. next year is always the year.

Enlighten us. How many years has that happened. Now stay off that East St Louis crack, OK?

Ok, lets start with 2 years ago. Where did the cardinals finish?
Look Johnny,
I have been a cubs fan for 25 years, through good and bad.
It's easy to make fun and ridicule the team.
Try being a real fan and not someone who just became
a cards fan !
Okay, cubs fans. I'll apologize for one thing and one thing only concerning my initial post on this thread: it was a poorly constructed sentence that caused me to imply that the cardinals have consistently (I have no idea why i used the word perenially...unless maybe a trend IS starting :) ) finished 15 games ahead of the cubs and then gone on to get swept in the world series in recent years. That of course would be ridiculous. The point I meant to make was that it's retarded to bash us for getting swept in the fall classic when we pounded you guys by ~15 games in the division that same season. That's all, and I think it's pretty difficult to contest. In addition, my comment about Kerry Wood was not meant to be a cheap-shot, although I can see how it could be interpreted as such. I really just wish he and prior could be consistently healthy so that we could improve on the already stellar rivalry between our teams that has existed for so long. As hard as it might be for you to believe, I would have enjoyed 2004 that much more if the Cubs had been nipping at our heels and notched 104 victories themselves to fall just short. Any true baseball fan knows that the expense of a great rivalry is not always coming out on top. Yet it definitely FEELS like we've bested the cubs WAY more than they've bested us in the last 10 years, thus diluting the potency of the rivalry.
As for the comment about my not being a true cards fan, that is complete horsecrap. I was born and raised in St. Louis, and I'll love willie mcgee 'til the day I die.
P.S. What's up with the east st. louis crack comments?
uhh that's ridiculous to insult cards fans. they are considered by most to be the best in baseball. And behind the yankees, they have the most storied franchise, period. And the most World Series rings. Period again.
Don't let the biased media fool you into thinking the Cubs and/or Red Sox are better. Apparenly our current network execs are Cubs/Sox fans, hopefully most of us can see thru their biased reporting.
2 yrs ago was a fluke for Chicago, as was 1984. The cards have been to the playoffs 4 out of the last 5 yrs I believe? And 1 game away from the World series in 1996 as well. Not to mention 3 trips to the World Series in the 1980's, 3 more in teh 1960's, and a total of 7 in the 1930's and 40's (which includes 5 championships).
GO CARDS!
Amazing how a thread that started about the Cubs and Red Sox wound up getting hijacked by a couple of hick cardinal fans in a verbal circle jerk justifying their record.
Cardinal fans should seek help for their inferiority complex soon before they get like white sox fans.
I'm a Sox fan who flew from Boston to Chicago last weekend for the games. Very impressed by Wrigley and classy Cubs fans. They even played "Sweet Caroline" between the 7th and 8th innings, which was pretty cool of them. It was good to be in another city where they actually care about baseball.
It was also fun to see Chicago pretty much infiltrated by half the city of Boston over the weekend.

Hijacked? Sure.
HICK cardinal fans? Maybe, but how could anyone know?
Comparing the white sox to the cardinals? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETAAAAAAAARRRRDED.
Come on, bro, do you really think cards fans have any reason to feel inferior these days? You can do better than that. Can't you???
You just proved his point.
Oh, and thanks again to the cardinals for rolling over last fall.

How did I just prove his point, pray tell?
