I just bought my 3rd Osprey backpack. I bought another one because I keep downsizing my gear as I get older and haul less stuff and lighter stuff. 85L to 70L to 60L. Would like to go 50L but not sure how 6 feet tall people can downsize that much with the size of gear you need.
I worked at Philmont for a few summers and tried every backpack under the sun. The only brand more comfortable than Osprey was Arc'teryx and Osprey's have all these great little useful features. Also very well made and durable. Worth every penny, in my view.
The downside to the features, frame/suspension, and durability is they are heavier than average. My 8 year old Aether 70 is lighter than current Aether models on the market.
Recently went on a backpacking trip and probably 50% of the bags were Osprey. They have reached trend status and probably are in Patagonia/North Face territory at this point. Still good stuff, though.
