It's middle school, my guy. No one cares, nor should anyone care. It's kind of pathetic that you even noticed.
Then why have rules at all?

Never heard of the school before seeing this thread and it is less than 40 miles from where I live.
As for the topic, you would have to go back 2 years and see if they were given permission or if it was known the girls were younger than traditional 7th graders.
I will admit that a classmate and I lied about our age so we could play peewee t-ball when we were 5 instead of waiting until 6. We ended up being the two top runners on the xc team when we were seniors so all of our meets should be forfeited.
I wondered this, too. Maybe two years ago someone gave them permission to run even though they were 6th graders. It seems more likely, though, that if that were the case they'd appear in last year's results as 7th graders for a second year, then this year as 8th graders. If it were done legitimately there'd be no reason to enter them under an incorrect grade two years in a row. That just seems odd. My first thought was to let it go. It's Middle School. But maybe something fishy is going on. Is there for sure a governing body that is responsible for setting rules like two years' eligibility only? If so, you can email them and not "report" the school--just say you've noticed this oddity and you're wondering how it happened and if it needs to be addressed. But, there are two options to do this honorably: 1. Email the school's coaches first, and ask for their explanation. Politely and without accusing them of wrong doing. You need to use your real name and contact information. 2. If you prefer, email the governing body, but you should copy the coaches and again, use your real name.

This doesn't make sense. No one can "grant permission" to run as 6th graders because it's against the rules. It's akin to just seeing if someone "had permission" to play high school football as an 8th grader, or if a kid "has permission" to use PEDs. No one has permission - thus the rule, stated clearly in the OHSAA rulebook (35.4).
Further, your flippant response and repeated attempts to diminish the deception (and yes, it is deception - otherwise, why register these girls as 8th graders last year when they were eligible 7th graders?), reeks of homerism. I'd be willing to bet you either (a) know this program and these girls (are you a parent?), or (b) you're familiar with and/or are friends with the coach. You live within 40 miles of Columbus and don't know St. Michael's of Worthington? Please.
Cheating in peewee t-ball is quite a bit different than skirting OHSAA rules and falsifying entries to get underage students into MS meets.
Maybe they all are bad students and got held back a grade. Show some heart!
Furthermore, the girls are all complicit in this plot too. Tell me not one of them read the race results and noticed the discrepancy.
As a young adult, have at least some integrity.

The parents too. The parents of the girls in question, for sure, but also the parents of 8th graders two years ago whose varsity spots were taken by the youngin's. Don't tell me that they didn't know what was going on, especially when looking at results and seeing the girls listed erroneously as 7th graders.
Looks like it's 32.4, not 35.4. And it's pretty clear--no 6th graders. So maybe send the coach a friendly email asking how it is that some of his students are competing for a third consecutive year, second year in a row registered as 8th grade students. Maybe there's an explanation.
"32.4) Students below the 7th grade may not practice with or participate with 7th through 12th
grade students."

Correct... my bad. 32.4.
There's also the "4 Semester" clause - students have 4 semesters to complete in MS athletics as defined by OHSAA (7th and 8th grades).
Only weird, obsessive Letsrunners would give a fraction of a sh*t about something like this. OP knows it’s weird, too. That’s why he put “MS” in the subject line rather than typing out “middle school”-because typing out the words would make his lameness super obvious to anyone scrolling past the thread.
To be clear, OP is upset because some 11-year-old girls got to run a 2 mile race with some 12 and 13-year-old girls. Oh, horrors! God forbid that these kids get to participate in sports for a year rather than sitting around at home. No, it’s VERY important that these teams of 12-year-olds are competing on a 150% level playing field, even if it means kids staying at home rather than exercising.
What a stupid thing to make a fuss about.

Time to throw gasoline on this fire . Look at Gabby Jennings from Louisiana. She is doing well at Furman right now. She choose their after Arkansas had reduced an offer. She has the most state titles in the History of Louisiana . Yes it was louisiana and it was small schools. She is still talented. The chance to run in high school meets since 5th grade played a big part in her development .

Since when is it weird to expect people to follow the rules? Doesn't matter that it's MS (ahem, "middle school" - abbreviated only to accommodate a one line title); the OHSAA has deemed it necessary to delineate explicit eligibility parameters for middle school events, so it matters to those in charge.
Should it matter that they are deliberately falsifying registrants? Where do you draw the line? Do you even asknowledge a line?
Lying is wrong. Cheating is wrong. Deception is wrong.

Columbus has a great running community that supports Elementary level running, with lots if opportunities to compete. The St Michael's girls shouldve been in those events two years ago.
Option C. You can't allow some girls to compete for an additional year in middle school. There are plenty of races available to compete in that don't require rule manipulation.
Okay, okay. I agree with you: lying is wrong, cheating is wrong. But I also agree with the guy above that it's not really a big deal that some 11 year olds raced some 12 year olds. So maybe shoot the coach an email and say, Hey, I noticed this and it looks strange. You might not want to do that again.
