Being a few years younger than him, I've looked at him as a source of motivation, but I haven't been keeping tabs on his current health, fitness, etc. Anyone know his status these days? Maybe the man himself could update us?

Yes, writer of running books, have ye lost thy will to compete in the local 5k? Will we see you at a Turkey Trot? What do you call a Cal Coaster who's not racing? A Cal Sedater?

Yes I am , mere mortal

SoCalPete we want to see you back on your feet.
Post a time on the roads so we age-groupers can know how far behind we can compete.
Tell your friend Ceci St. Geme she needs to get back to racing a SoCal 5k on the street.
Maybe you'll both get beat by younger legs,
but time stops for no one.

What is wrong with you?
Cool. Wonder when it will be on Netflix so I can binge watch it.
Nada brah. Just concerned that once fast runners continue to run and be healthy.
What's wrong with that? Are you a disappointed Democrat that paints everything black because of your unwarranted hatred for our fine President Trump?

Didn't start this thread. Don't watch tv, so have no idea about reality tv. Do know, however you've got anger and emotional issues likely do to being a lefty liberal and are easily triggered by humor that jabs fun ar your illogical ideology.

Why do you keep bringing politics into a running thread. Seriously, what is wrong with you?
I'm just a lowly sinner trying to make sense of this broken and fallen world knowing without the saving grace of Christ Jesus I will be drowning in a lake of fire for all eternity. In the meantime I run and for amusement go on LRC and follow the life of Jamin vicariously.

I think this is him. It doesn't look like he is training for distance running.
Surely someone must know what he's up to these days.
I am guessing you are trolling to get people to talk trash on him?
Still running, but haven't raced in over a year (since April, 2017). Have been writing two books--SpeedRunner, released by VeloPress this past spring, and Fast 5K: 25 Keys to Your Best 5K, to be released fall of 2019 by VeloPress (this is actually a rewrite/restructuring of a Kindle single I released, and have since pulled from Amazon, called "25 Keys to Running a Faster 5K"). I've also been running a speed training program for athletes of all sports (distance runners included, but mostly geared toward team sports).
The reality is that, at age 57, I simply couldn't do those things--sit in a chair 8-10 hours a day writing and researching for writing (honestly, sitting in a chair is just murder on the body) and then run athletes through drills, sleds, cones, etc--and still manage to do the training required to race well ... or really to run very well at all.
That said, I miss running (and hanging out) with my clubmates. And I miss meeting up with all my running peers at the various races. And I'm 2-3 days away from finishing the second book (just finishing up a couple training schedules for the appendices). And the speed training program just didn't work out well enough, so I've folded that. So ... hoping to be back on the roads, xc courses, and track in the near future. Mind you, it'll take at least a few months to get my legs back under me, and this is all predicated on my being able to secure a new source of income (i.e., a job), but I've always seemed to stumble into something new when required. So fingers crossed that I'll be seeing everyone at the start line again soon--with the caveat that based upon my first few weeks of so-called "running," soon might mean 2019, or maybe by the time I'm ready for the 60-64 age division, LOL!
