The Tilburg Ten Miles are the fastest 10miles races in the world. Haile Gebrselassie ran the world record (ie. fastest time ever) in the city in the south of The Netherlands 44:24 min. Other previous winners include: Bernard Koech and returning defending champion Rodgers Kwemoi.

Shalane Flanagan set a 10 km AR during the ladies 10k (seperate race during the same event) in 2015 in Tilburg.

Why do the women run 10k? There are plenty of 10k road races, why not make it the same as the men?

Not sure about this, but one thing is to give women a stage to show themselves. It's a different race during the same event, where they are the headline act. With a 10k it's easier to get a large womens' only race/fun run.
In fact, in the previous years the professional emphasis was even a bit more put on the womens race (try to be the fastest 10k in the world) than on the mens' 10M.
Men aren't allowed to race during that 10k race. There's another 10k fun run for them. Women can participate in the 10M event, but only as fun runners.*
* in the Netherlands there's still a official distinction between a competition and a recreational 'race' or funrun, although those races can start at the same moment. -
Now that Galen is there it wouldn’t be fast, but rather sit-clip- and kick
-
Sounds like the perfect warm up to Chicago.

Who else is in the men’s elite field ? It’s funny you never know what kind of shape Galen is in because of his lack of social media participation.
Where’s Mo pre Chicago race? -
The ten mile race here was made for marathon prep specific for fall marathon men who requested it.
10k women race is just that, an opportunity to run a super fast 10k.
Nobody could care less about a world class ten mile time... -
I wonder he can beat Ritz' workout AR ?

I care, as do many others. -
Yeah I care too. Why not?

What would happen on these broads if Rupp brakes Haile Geb world record?

Farah usually runs the Great North Half Marathon in Mid-December. -
Interesting -- before some previous marathons, he's done some half-marathons in the month/weeks beforehand.
Wonder if he's gonna do another pre-Chicago race (a half?) or if this is it.
If this IS it, could this say anything about their strategy gearing up for Chicago -- ie: he needs to get in more practice with even faster turnover? I think Ryan Hall, Rupp and Ritz have all beaten Greg Meyer's 10-mile world record in their respective half marathon bests. So maybe he simply wants a record outright? -
Thx!

Yes Sand Dunes I was wondering the same thing. Not sure if that Galens goal but I would figure that world record may be attainable for him. I’m sure Galens goals are before he retiresas follows....
1. Win Boston
2. Beat Mo at Chicago
2. Marathon AR
4. 2020 gold
5. Possible breaking 2 event or WR at?
6. Comrads
Hey I’m a big fan ! -

2021 Eugene gold... -
Rupp. Watcher was thinking the same. Either one he wants the WR or course record. Maybe he wants to work more on his speed. I’m thinking he has not been racing too much lately. He’s going to have to be speedy with Mo in the race. Or perhaps he feeling a bit wiped out? 10 miles is a bit easier? Saving himself for the big race? One thing I’m wondering is why not more effort to knock out the American record for the 1/2 marathon ?
Gotta wonder what marathon goal he has for Chicago? 2:04? Time to be a 2:04 guy. What more important beating Mo or the American record? I actually think beating Mo psychologically would give him the confidence he needed for the olympics.
But as we know the marathon is a gamble and you never know how you will do. I’m not sure who will win. It’s a toss up for me. But I hope Galen reaches one of the goals. -
Mid-September, that is.
