Well I'm not sure because the only white guys running fast at the moment share the name Ingebrigtsen. ?
There is that. When was the last white sub-13:15?
While the Africans slowed from 12:40s to 13:00s, the white guys slowed from 12:50s to 13:10s.
Looks indeed like the dopers have to decrease their dosages these days, excellent!
Four Europeans ran under 13:15 last year. Henrik ran 13:16 earlier this year and Jakob could probably run sub 13:00 right now.
When faced with African competition that overwhelmingly dopes, you'd expect general standards to drop but one or two outliers able to raise their game, train to their limits, and occasionally get dragged to a good time (by doped up rivals and doped up pacemakers). That might be what happened with guys like Craig Mottram. Of course, nobody has ever said no white runners dope, and you would expect, especially in the EPO free for all era, for a small number of Europeans and Australasians to have taken advantage. What's remarkable is that clearly only a few did, including it being unlikely the elite Brits did (excluding the possibility of Mo), given that British times actually declined.
The statistics are clear, despite Rekruners dodgy and skewed 'closer look at performances'. A five year old could spend ten minutes browsing the IAAF year by year rankings and notice the remarkable decline in African performances and that European and American times have barely changed at all.
And where do you get this '44% of athletes cheat' figure? Is that the study that involved a questionaire given to the African student games taht is regularly quoted here as though it proves what is in question - whether Europeans cheat to the extent that Africans do.
Repeating the 'everybody cheats' mantra is just another form of Kenyan doping apologism in the end. An alternative to the 'EPO doesn't work on East Africans' of Rekrunner and Canova.
