She mentioned that in her instagram story, does that prove that you can succeed without high mileage??

That's not really very surprising. She's focusing on 3-5k races. She also does quite a bit of cross training. Mileage isn't the be-all and end-all of running. Specificity rules all. Plodding around for 100 miles a week will not make you run fast.
who's this girl
I think if it's done right, you don't need mega mileage for shorter race distances.
I'm sure she cross trains.
I have a 53 year old friend who just can't handle the mileage anymore.
He does about 40 mpw plu gym time. He equates 10 minutes of cross training with 1 mile of running.
He's a low 16 guy- at 53 years old.
1. She cross trains like crazy. Tons of time on the elliptical, seems like almost every day.
2. She has slightly better than average genes.
3. Mileage this low still shocked me given her success.
Side note: is she no longer sponsored by Nike? She hasn't been wearing the new pro kit all year and has been wearing super old spikes. Would be surprising given her continued success and seeming marketability, but maybe there is more to the story.
Yeah her FB feed suggests that she puts in a lot of Elliptical "Miles"
40-45 a week, of quality, is enough for the distances she races.
40-45 mpw is not enough for any pro distance runner. Period. End of story.
Now if they are doing other things (x training) and that's all they can handle without getting hurt, then it may be enough but no one running 5000s is going to be the best they can be on 50 mpw.
Rojo is a little narrow minded.
For him, doing more is always the answer!
Instead, he should be thinking, wow I had a girl that was always injured, what can I learn from this to get the best out of an athlete without getting them injured all the time.
Congrats to Eilish and her coach for finding what works for her to run 4:01/8:32/14:48/33:53

This is like arguing against 2+2=4
Low mileage 5k runner means one of the following:
1. Lying about here mileage I.e. doesn't count her warm up,cool down and easy mileage.
2. Does a boat load of cross training.
3. Blood doping.
4. She is this low during track season and runs 70+ miles a week in the off-season.
5. All the above.

*8:31 *31:53. Also ran a 9:35 steeple before changing to flat stuff after an injury a few years ago.
...sorry, few typos in there :( robbed her of 2min over 10k!
An old blog of hers shows she runs more than that, more like 70miles per week and doubles most days.

Many cross train as much or more and can't run worth a damn

No .... looks about right if you look at the "Average summer training week". Pretty much spot on the 40-45 that she's mentioned (and without having seen that instagram story, I assume it's recent and therefore referencing her current, summer schedule)

She may possible no longer be sponsored by nike. In a recent IG post she has a pair of zoom streaks with a spike plate, which she purchased from the runners lab (a shoe store in Belgium).
She is not sponsored aymore. She's being wearing her UK's club Vest/Top for a while now. Plus on twitter someone said she was sponsored by nike and her mum Liz McColgan said....

Is it possible that she chose to leave Nike for those reasons?
Hmmmm?
Maybe she's in a situation where she doesn't really need the money-she makes enough in prize and appearance money to live and she likes the freedom of not being tied to a shoe company?
I'm at a point where I could pay my bills for about 14k a year.
Could she be in a similar situation?
