I don't hate him. Hate what he did to people, the sport, and the good name of fundraising for a real cause.
He cherry picked 1 of the 3 big cycling events to focus on every year, when most of the best were doing one of the others as well as the Tour de France (which was smart on his part, from a marketing perspective to stupid Americans). He was a drug abuser like most of the top riders and teams in the tour but he/they took it to another level. He was clearly a great responder to the drugs and we will never know if he was truly one of the best or just a great responder. He was a marketing machine and did whatever he could to keep that gravy train rolling.
He paid someone $100,000 to ensure he would win a race and $1,000,000 prize back in 1993, a criminal offense. He did what he had to do with no looking back and no regard for a fair sport/competition.
