Two of the best US marathoners ever (Ryan and Sara) What a shame they won't ever have offspring that receives that prime DNA match-up!
How do you know? 35 is not to old for a women to have a baby, heck how old was Janet Jackson when she had her baby? 50 something?
Ummm, why do you think they adopted genius?

Still, wasn't the temperature in the high 50s working its way into the 60s? If that is the best that Ottawa can do in late May, that's too hot for a marathon.
Too hot for you maybe.

Aside from some headwinds in the first half conditions were about as good as can be expected in Ottawa in late-May. Last two years were far too hot though. Saw Sara coming back up Sussex and she looked strong (about 37km).

Perhaps, not ideal, but I will take those temps any day.

How is it possible to find fault with what Sara just did?
Her great run got me thinking about age group recards

You don't know Dathan, that I'm sure of. He trains hard but has simply had some bad luck.

Huddle, Cragg, Flanagan, Hasay and Linden are a class above everyone else and it's not even close.
interesting that Huddle is the only one not using shoes with a spring-plate in that shortlist
one thing I really admire about Sara is she is also not using shoes with springs
Shalane's best OTQ in 2012 before even the prototypes of the vapors existed was 2:28 over the (3-year?) qualifying period
2012 was one the last years you can see reality in american women's marathon times

Time to put asterisks for times run in 4%'s?
And the soon to be released this fall Brooks shoe.

if serious, part of the problem of course would be identifying shoes with springs on a per race, per athlete basis, because there is no review of equipment like for the field people at track meets, etc.
would it be so crazy to require a TUE for an athlete to use shoes with springs?
I think it would make perfect sense and be completely fair, there would be a record of their use, the record would be semi-private, and athletes with a legit need for springs would still have access to such shoes (of course then suddenly everyone at NOP has a TUE for springs but that's another issue for another day/thread)
ps. we also need asterisks for Boston 2011, had to double-take on Desi dropping a 2:22 - why on earth does usatf allow point-to-point single-direction courses with lots of descent as olympic trial qualifiers when no olympic course would ever allow that standard under IAAF rules
