Know this thread is old but yeesh. Sub-70 is really, really, good. For men:
World Class- 57-62
Elite- 62-65
National Class- 65-70
Regional Class- 70-80
Local Class- 80-90
Weekend Warrior- 90-105
Break 2- 105-120
2 hours & change/get to the finish line- 120+
Why do we spend half our time on here discouraging people? Running is about bringing people together. Not everyone is gonna be the fastest but who cares at the end of the day. Someone does a half in 2:20. Good for them. Hope they got what they wanted out of it & do another one if they want. Running is about community, setting goals, building people up, etc. There's nothing to gain by being elitist.
Anyways, I put pretty big ranges starting with regional class. Also did it more/less for the under-40 crowd. Ranges change with age. Feel like there are a ton of people working really hard in the sport that might never get past 70:00. Anywhere from 70-90 means you're putting in some miles and can do reasonably well at any local race from the 5k to half marathon. Most of the sport isn't running in the 60s or faster. It's fun to watch those times go down. We don't need to rip the masses because the WR is 57.
