She won't finish, but there'll be three finishers this year. Gary Robbins will take the win in a new course record.
How you feeling now about that speculation? Only Gary has started loop 3 and the pace will only get slower from here on out.
Five on loop three, Gary and some Euros. Amelia et al still on loop two will be tapped out, assuming they make it back! Some on the course was once loat for 30 hours before flagging down a vehicle on a road off course.

We're now down to three on loop three. I doubt anyone will finish this year:
https://twitter.com/keithdunnFun fact: Gary Robbins took a wrong turn at the end of the course last year and missed the cutoff by 6 seconds. This year, one of the books on the course is "6 seconds".
That's innacurate: Gary went off course and was disqualified (I don't know if this was done officially since he was late anyway), those 6 seconds didn't matter.

9 runners were under CR about 2 hours ago. Isn't there also only 20 or so people in the race? They're all going to implode.
Everyone's always under CR pace, since it's a different course every year.
maybe next year? wrote:

You were right.
So how do they know where to go for the course? I assume they're given some sort of directions/waypoints to find?

Watch the documentary. Laz provides a map with the course and also really snarky, poor instructions. There are waypoints with books, and participants have to grab the page from each book to match their bib number. (New bib on each loop.)
I've held the map and instructions in my hand from previous years. I'm great at mapreading and orienteering, and this race would be a b*tch.
