I'm watching now this video on Chada TV Channel (Chada FM is in fact a musical chanel).
It's a recent interview of Aouita dating of 10 days.
Aouita narrate how it started all for him in 1983.
He was with a friend of him Faouzi Alahbi (an old 800m Moroccan champion) in training in Mexico in the altitude.
At that time they had zero bucks in their pockets and they had a single airplane ticket.
He said to his friend to the meeting of Firenze (ITA) (8 June 1983) and I'm going to blow the world with a time (possibly a world records in the 1500m). His friend laughed about him and said how is it possible? and Said Aouita answered: yes yes ... there will be something because the bucks we gain there.
Effectively, Aouita did what he said with a time 3:32.54 very close the world record realized by Coe at that time.
The president of the meeting rewarded Aouita with 3000 $ and it was his first major big gain in the athletics.
Said Aouita said he spent two days in the gare of train station because he didn't have the money to go to a hotel.
Then the president of the Italian meeting became his manager.
Aouita praise a lot that Italian manager and say he played a big role in his future results.
Now Coevett remember this:
Sebastian Coe 1500m world record was almost beaten by a guy that spent two days in train station sleeping on chairs.
