All of the adidas shoes have a form of torsion in different shapes (except the DPR). The different shapes go with the different ratios of boost and change how the shoe feels from a snappiness perspective. The adios and Boston have longer shanks which gives them a more performance like feel. Trainers like the Energy and Ultra have a relatively smaller shank just to provide structure. If they didn't have that plastic it would be a bit more floppy and less controlled ride forward.
