Intuition is very important, but we in the west do our best to ignore it. Intuition should not be dismissed. The subconscious mind is always grinding and processing, recognizing patterns, putting things together, etc. Intuition, done right, is often more useful than rational thought, acting on more complete information, but there needs to be balance and awareness.

If you did follow your gut things would have been even worse.
These days I follow my gut every time I run. But, that's only because these days I am overweight, have a bit of a beer belly, and trying to get back into shape.
