Thought I would resurrect this thread - the running store I frequent decided to start stocking Altras, and they gave me a sample pair for $40 to try, so I figured why not. I'm coming from a racing-flats for all runs background (since 2001), but now I'm older and still want the zero-drop (or close to) feel, but with some added cushioning. Seemed like Altras might be an appropriate experiment for me.
All they had was the Torin - I'm aware of the Vanish-R flat, and I believe another more flat-like model as well. When they get their full stock, which one should I go for if I decide to get a pair? The Torins seem okay, but they are too much shoe for me. What I do like is the toebox, as I have some sever bursitis in both feet that gives me nerve-zaps in my 4th and 5th toes when I run. The added room seems to help with the issue.
