Calling out males who have internally debated to become a nurse vs. doctor

No other poster on here was condescending. Did you pick a low paid specialty or were you forced into one because of poor performance in med school? As one of my professors was fond of saying what do you call the guy who graduated last in his class? Doctor. It seems you want to be seen as having a high IQ by association only :)

I attended an Ivy league quality school and know academic rigor. PA school is compressed med school. The difficulty is the same don't kid yourself it is just shorter. As far as average IQ I couldn't find any studies but am confident the average PA is as intelligent as the average FP doc.

I will agree the top specialist and research docs are probably more intelligent than the average PA but that would go for your average FP as well. I've known a lot of them and have never felt outclassed by their intellect. The 3 most accomplished and intelligent individuals I've know all didn't go into medicine.

You need to accept what most people have already figured out. You aren't ever going to be the smartest or fastest and it is okay. People care more how you treat them than your degree or accomplishments.

Most of the docs I've worked with are great people I don't put the profession down. All any of us were doing was giving our reasons for our choices. Hopefully you will get there one day and not need to have a pissing match over everything. There are few people I don't like and arrogant one's are my least favorite. If you are gifted be grateful and others will see that in time. A man who must say I am king is no king.

You know, it seems to me that this question is entirely individual. It all depends on the desire and abilities of a person. Doctors are indeed very busy, especially now, when covid is.

However, nurses, in a sense, do not have the opportunity for career growth. In addition, they do not save lives and do not actively participate in developing a treatment program.

But, as I said, each person decides for himself what is convenient for him. My friend, for example, has completed phlebotomy courses at all. And now he works in a private clinic. She is delighted with her position, and she does not want anything more.

I'm an MD who works with several smart NPs.

Both are good jobs. The main difference is probably that the MD works "all the time". bus is also a little more in charge of their own schedule. MDs train for many, many years, so you have to like all the training. I loved it; but it's not for everyone.

NPs work a lot less, but they have a fixed schedule. Many are unionized and work exactly 40 hours a week, clocking in and out. One NP I worked with hated the clocking on and out (found it humiliating) and left for a private practice.

The grass is greener on the other side. I can certainly see many benefits to being an NP, but maybe I would dream of being an MD if I were an NP. Who knows.

One thing that others have not mentioned is that some MD jobs resemble NP jobs a lot. ER and hospitalist MDs work fixed schedules with great lifestyles. Or you can work locum tenens and make great money working intensely for a few weeks at a time and then take lots of time off.
