Serious question as this is something i'm currently facing.
Leaning heavily towards becoming a nurse practitioner because of the sole reason that I will likely have a much more balanced life in the future (family, interests, career).
I've spoken to many MDs and they seem overworked, their work follows them around and i'm uncertain if I will enjoy having the ultimate burden of responsibility for someone's life every waking moment of the day.
Also, i'm past the point of the male nurse stereotype and could care less about what others think of me. My decision rests solely with the responsibilities and livelihoods of both professions
