What were you doing on this day 45 years ago?
What were you doing on this day 45 years ago?
I was at my loving Grandfather's house enjoying Thanksgiving.
I was shredding papers "investigating" the Watergate scandal after which I was fired for being corrupt and told I was unfit to ever hold public office.
I don't remember.
I don't know my mom was only 8 years old.
I was 13 so I would think I would have been at my school all day. It was the day before my brother's 24 th birthday.
Back then I would not have been aware that the date was significant to US people.
I must still plead ignorance as I am not sure what you people are giving thanks for.
I ran the NCAA meet on Monday before, USTFF Wednesday, and Dallas White Rock 8 mile race Thanksgiving Day. Had Thanksgiving dinner at a friends house.
I was in a pigpen. But I was a nice and friendly pig so when I was slaughtered a few years later, I was reincarnated as a letsrun poster. One step up!
I was a mean nasty dirty pig who did some very bad things. A few years after I was slaughtered l came back a few steps DOWN. I am the tormented letsrun poster DFF.

Our ability to grow shlt so we don't starve to death over the winter. Now we're just thankful there's a grocery store down the street and we don't have to grow shlt anymore.
Pretty sure I was still feeding on my mama's breast
I was in high school. Don't remember that day in particular but do remember the events of that week. Gerald Ford was confirmed by Congress to be VP, because Agnew had resigned. And the 18 minute gap in the Watergate tapes was revealed that week--the excuse was disingenuous and hilarious.
Living a childhood behind the dictatorship of the Iron Curtain, watching my parents descend into emotional lethargy. Now, at about the same age, I find myself thankful for the material comfort and relative freedom of the USA, but filled with dread as I see Americans inviting the sort of corruption and authoritarianism that was the death of my parents. And they say the West won the Cold War ... good one.
On November 23, 1972--Thanksgiving--I was hobbling around with a searing pain in my foot, having injured it while running a few easy miles the day before (after a 20-mile race on Sunday). I was never able to run again.
Thanks for reminding me of 45 years of being a cripple. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it?
45yrs ago, I was in an orphanage not knowing where my next meal would come, who would love me and where I would be today. Although, I didn’t know I was placed on the road when I was barely a year old, I was happy in the orphanage b/c at least I had shelter, some food and other kids to interact—even though some of us older kids had to take care of the babies.
Do I feel fortunate and grateful today? You bet, w/o the experience of my past...I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
I can see it clearly now. Gone were the dark clouds and the rain. It was a bright sunny day. . .
It was Thanksgiving Day. I was senior in HS and I ran a turkey trot that morning. That afternoon I probably took a nap because of the turkey trot and eating tons of turkey.
The 23rd was a Friday in 1973

Ain't you the smart one! But ain't you the dumb one, too. We be talkin' 1972, not 1973, and, guess what? Nov 23, 1972 was THANKSGIVING DAY!
http://luirig.altervista.org/calendar/index.php?year=1972I was strutting like a peacock and spouting off at the mouth with smug confidence. In my skivvies in my bedroom in the White House, I bellowed to my batman, "Reelected 16 days ago, baby! I'm still Dictator!! Ain't nobody gonna stop me now!! Would you get me a glass of water, Gates?"
