Hey, Bill Rodgers forgot his racing shorts for the 1976 NYC Marathon, had to borrow a pair of Adidas soccer shorts from either Tom Fleming or a friend of Tom's.

Wouldn't it be pretty easy to have someone fly out to NY with the shoes? Plane tickets are not that expensive
True---or he would have gotten new racing shorts by simply making a call that morning and they would have quickly shown up at his hotel room.
What a beat, bookmarked. Will be reading all articles tomm morning.
Yes confirmed, Meb is out. But it was unlikely he could handle the 1:03:45 half split Mo Farrah has hired to pace the field.

Rodgers was kind of the anti-Meb. He basically overlooked all the details.
In '79 he had neither a hat nor gloves even though it was snowing. So his wife scrambled to find a Snoopy hat and some gardening gloves.
The funny thing is that for years after you could buy generic cotton garden gloves emblazoned with the BR logo.
And they made you feel fast.

Confirmed.

What year did Joanie get to the Korean Church in Hopkinton with 2 left shoes?

He probably doesn't want to risk injury running in a new pair of shoes so he's playing it safe. Doesn't want to retire with a dnf because of blisters. Maybe go for one last fast one and finish out in London...
Or, came in 'too hot' and tested positive in the joke they call testing pre-comp. Mo is never testing positive, ever.
Cough, cough, forgot my shoes...
Typical iaaf corruption.

What happened to the all the autographed pairs from various notables that were nailed to the wall in the downstairs room when the Faneuil Hall store closed?

Why is he retiring at all if he's only 42. There's people that keep running marathons until they are 80 or even 100.

True. You could probably borrow a brain that recognizes satire, too.
Although, you should get it first.
He obviously got the joke, how could you not see that?
Didn' t something like this actually happen to him once? I think I remember a story from earlier in the career when his racing flats weren't in his carry on bag when he flew to a race (maybe because it was full of stuff he and his wife needed for their kid(s)), he had to get new ones, and struggled with blisters or something like that. I want to say it was at NYC.
I don't know what Mo has to do with anything on this thread OR with the fact you still don't understand satire
