I will not be falling asleep for this 'thon, however will not have access to live streaming of race just updates from this thread. Once again I would like LRC boots on the ground to provide accurate splits of lead pack and also coverage of non-Rupp Americans racing. Except Great Things!

I'm relegated to watching the NBCCHICAGO.com live stream (typical hometown news station coverage I'm sure), but am hoping they have Toni Reavis or Josh Cox in the studio. Assuming weather still slated to be on the warm side.

Cox would be good addition. Weather not too bad - a little humid and a tad warmer than ideal. But overall not too worrisome. -

Live discussion threads are always better than dead discussion threads whether you are referring to the content or the providers.

Do we know what the Rupp approved pre-race evening meal will be?
Can you get any good Ugali in Chi-town?
Will the level of weekend unruliness be same, less, or more than usual?
If Obama started train for next year's Chicago 'thon would he be able to get under 3:30?
Will Sam Chelanga beat Chis Derrick?
Will Luke beat Arron?
Has Jordan Hasay ever met Michael Jordan?
Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan are the only remaining members of the Traveling Wilburys. How many original members of Chicago are still around?
Just questions, before the 'thon, after the dawn, in the Midwestern calm, before the start of the running throng.

I actually don't think those odds are crazy high.
The thing is he's really consistent. It's pretty believable that he has a good day and everyone else either has a mediocre or bad day.
All the odds sound pretty good. I might bet against all of the top 3. Their odds say like a 75% total chance that the winner is one of Kirui, Lilesa, Biwott. I'd put it a bit lower. -
Does the addition of Bett tweak the odds a bit more?? Would you bet that Bett betters Rupp's betting odds?
-
What are the odds on how many cooling hats Rupp will wear during race?
I'm going with 4.
I may be wrong, but I don't think Meb ever ran Chicago. Don't think Ryan Hall did either. At least Galen isn't afraid of the Midwest.

Dibaba at 1/5? I'd bet against her for those odds, I feel like there's at least a 1 in 5 chance she gets eaten by a bear or tweaks a hamstring or something.

I was shocked that Rupp was so low. I guess it's a UK site so you aren't going to have ever American betting on Rupp but his implies win odds are just 11%.
Here are the implied win percentages.
28.57%
22.2%
20%
11.76% Rupp
11.11%
10%
7.69%
5.8%
Speaking of Rupp, we've got some last minute drama regarding him. Might he have his own pacer tomorrow, and if he does, is it ethical?

Mr. Hall ran Chicago in 2011. The runners in corral A gave him a loud cheer when he came out of the elite tent area and onto the street. He ran a respectable 2:08.
-
certainly it is ethical. Anybody in the field can hang with the pacer if they want and not only Mr. Rupp.
-
Greg Meyer was the last American-born male to win Chicago in 1982. I wonder what shoes he wore and if they were made in China?
Maybe all Americans running the Chicago 'thon in honor of Columbus day on Monday should wear red MAGA hats to pay respect for our Italian heritage.

I would wager on Zersenay Tadese. The fastest half marathon credential is impressive. 10/1 odds for a guy that has a decent chance is too good to pass by.
15/2 odds for Galen also seems too good to not bet on him. -

Um, ever hear of Guye Adola?
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2017/09/unbelievable-guye-adola-just-ran-fastest-marathon-debut-history-didnt-know-running-berlin-4-days-race/ -
I predict the sun will come up tomorrow. Weather will be what it will be. Some runners will run faster than others. Some will get blisters and some won't. Some will wish they had not eaten the breakfast burrito two hours before the race. Some will not run a 'thon again. Some will set a PR, most won't. After the race, there will be more time for some, and less for others.

your money will go down the toilet! He is a 2:10 marathoner, because he is aerobically weak. Plus he is 35, so he is not going to become a great marathoner when has been a weak marathoner for most of his life. He is a specialist at half marathon, and half marathon only. He probably would have been the greatest 10000m runner on track, but he ran during the era of Bekele.
He ran 2:06 in a race that was designed from him to break 2:00. Your top elite african marathoners can run 2:06 in their sleep.
He may push a 62:00 min marathon pace, but death will become him after the 13th mile.
