"Sugar is not a problem! Bad-person animal-consumption is the problem."Ignore that animal product consumption is the ONLY facet of the American diet which is going DOWN, while Americans get FATTER and FATTER. Obey the government, they can't possible be wrong. They are not influenced by the massive profits in carbage junk food and the health care debacle which fuels everything. When you need livestock to fatten as quickly as possible...feed them grains. Leave the husks on and call it "whole grain" lol the sheep, pigs and cattle will eat forever.Haha...

Dude are you OK? You must have low blood sugar to have posted such conspiracy theory tripe. What is it about supposed conspiracies involving industrial "complexes" that gets otherwise normal people to be so frighteningly stupid? What's next? Will this thread turn into a multiple pager filled with anti-vaccine garbage?
Comparing people on high carb to high fat diets containing an equal number of calories that meet daily requirements, a high fat diet will result in diabetes and a high carb diet will not. The problem with a high carb diet is that if it is high in fructose, appetite is not satiated. Consequently, a high carb diet can cause diabetes through overeating.
So just how much fruit and grains do you think that people ate for two million years before agriculture? Because that primal diet is what our bodies are designed to consume and assimilate.Don't let the facts get in the way of your social conditioning:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2qdyKxU0YUFat consumption has gone up- that is fat in the form of vegetable-derived oils, which are toxic and unfit for human consumption. Animal fat consumption is down, as obesity and metabolic disease skyrockets. But go ahead and put that margarine on your wheat toast, and your fatty liver will thank you later.
Idiot. Olive oil is now unhealthy? People are fat because food is cheap and super available, further enhanced by low rates of required daily movement. It doesn't have to be any more complicated than that. You weirdos on this site amaze me with your weirdo food fetishes and obsessions.
Idiot. Olives are not a vegetable. Neither are avocados. They are not toxic like corn, soy, etc, but both are inferior to free-ranging animal and fish fat. Try to survive an arctic winter in an igloo eating nothing but olive oil. You will be dead inside of a month. Even Mediterranean cultures eat far more animal and butter fat than olive oil.
People are fat because sugar is addictive, starches and crop oils are low in nutrition and satiety. You have no clue about even the simplest biology. A carnivore eats only until sated. An herbivore eats night and day, always unsated, always putting on the fat that will in turn satisfy the carnivore.
It isn't any more complicated than that.
Drop dead idiot. You know nothing.

"Try to survive an arctic winter in an igloo eating nothing but olive oil."
Funny cuz I'm actually trying this right now. Lauren is sitting to my right and Juan is to my left. We've been having a great time sitting in this igloo in the arctic winter, eating nothing but olive oil and talking about the fact-free concept of why Kenyan runners don't get diabetes. We're also talking about Renato's teachings that EPO doesn't work on Kenyans. Juan says perhaps the two are connected. Lauren says she doesn't think either can be true. I am in charge of refilling the ever- emptying olive oil bottle and I actually like my job. Will keep you guys filled in! Don't forget to eat like your prehistoric ancestors!! Do as I say not as I do! Haha thanks everybody I'll see you on my upcoming hike of the Pacific Crest Trail eating only chicken livers!
I have a 20 oz bottle of coke next to me. The label says that it has 65g of total sugars (130% of recommended daily allowance). Those 65g of sugars are all added, of course. I wouldn't worry too much about the overly sweet tea that Kenyans may drink once in the morning and once in the afternoon. But as the diet Westernizes, obesity will become rampant.
The entire point is that people eat too many calories and move too little, dippshiiit. Your idiot caveman shiit doesn't fly. Humans are OMNIVORES. Feed them a wide variety of foods, get them off of their assess to MOVE, and limit their caloric intake and they'll do just fine. This endless morphing into what is healthy today being unhealthy tomorrow is all bullsihhittt. I'm old enough to have been through it all and the bottom line is eat reasonable numbers of calories, MOVE YOUR BODY, and live your life.Take your caveman diet and shove it up your phukking assshole buddy.

All sugar is not equal. They ingest table sugar ( cane sugar) , which is sucrose, a balance of fructose and glucose.
Here in the states we ingest mostly FRUCTOSE, HIGH CORN SYRUP FRUCTOSE, and that s h i t will kill you. Only the liver breaks down fructose, and the liver is responsible for storing glycogen. So when the liver gets overworked because of the constant intake of FRUCTOSE, the liver will start to lose its functionality.
That is the difference.
Corporate food is the best!
The "free market" (hah hah) loves us...
That's why corporations are so generous with health insurance.
You seem to be having a hypoglycemic crisis there, buddy. Might want to cut down on the sugar, and MOVE THE BODY away from the keypad.

Well there is your exhibit "A" for the behavioral effects of high-carb/inadequate animal-source nutrients:

People: Diabetes is does not have one, single cause. If you eat sugar, sit all day, gain weight ... you are predisposed to diabetes.
On the other hand, if you eat the same amount of sugar, but run 10 miles a day, and don't gain weight (like many Kenyans), your diabetes risk is low.
People used to say, "You are what you eat." It's perhaps more accurate to say, "You are what you do," which includes both what you eat and your total daily exercise.

What makes you think that we should aspire to be like these people ?

"Designed" by whom ? For what purpose ?
"I can't speak for Kenya, but I spend 4 years in Zambia and obesity and diabetes are mushrooming there, particularly in urban areas where US/South African fast food chains are popping up and junk food is becoming widely available. People are going from stunted and underweight to obese within a generation. Also people are eating huge quantities of refined maize nshima (ugali). Traditionally people ate whole grained sorgum or millet nshima with their vegetables and meat-These large quantities of refined maize (corn) along with junk food and increasingly sedentary urban lifestyles is really messing up people's health. Being thin and active is a sign of being poor or having HIV, so people actually prefer to be big (fat) and eat junk food as a status symbol."
I spent time in Zambia as well. Nshima's composition depended on what region of the country you were in. Not all was corn based. Nshima is the diet of the poor, not the wealthy. Zambians do use a lot of cane sugar, but most people are walking around a lot, save larger cities. Where were you based? I spent time in Lusaka, Chongwe, Kitwe, Chipembi, and out near Chipata.
And here I always thought type one was lack of insulin production, therefore likely genetic at base level, though diet affects. Is everyone in here talking about type two? If so it's tied to overweight/obesity. My dad has it. Had to totally change his diet. But he didn't eat a lot of sugary foods. He just didn't damn exercise at all. Now he walks 30minutes a day and watches portion levels. Lost 25lbs and will not need meds!

---Because they weren't fat diabetic slobs. Put them amongst us now and they would be paragons of physical and mental health, comparing as groups. We are soft, ignorant clowns by comparison. Of course without antibiotics and modern surgical methods, they lived a mere 50-60 years, despite the rudest of means.

----This funny little idea called "Evolution by Natural Selection". Kind of beyond the average intelligence uptake, since for one thing you have to be able to think in terms of millions of years, with concepts such as "ecological niches", "dietary context" and "differential mortality" involved.
