Tirunesh is not running the 10000m event in the WC. She has been selected to the Marathon team. That's a fact.
Right now there are some really good stuff flowing through Ayana and Dibaba's veins.

She was originally. But now she will do 10k. That is a fact.

I thought for Ethiopia, you would need to get a top time in the season to be selected? Don't think Dibaba has run one this year?? has that changed now?
Her rio Olympic time qualifies her, but it just wouldn't make sense for her to run it. She is a fast marathoner now, second best in the world to Mary K.
However, she did set a PR in that rio race

For some bogus reason they dropped Gelete burka, the 10k trial winner and moved Tirunesh to 10k. When they do this they thought Ayana won't be available because of her injuries.
I guess a federation can do whatever it wants to do, but to drop your 10K trials winner, Gelete Burka from the team is just plain cruel.

You right, their powerful heart and lung delivering more than enough good stuff through their veins. By the way how much is your pulse rate before and after you exercise?
If Ayana is running, Tirunesh is not going to win, unless Ayana has turned into crap. Now if this were before 2015, Tirunesh would smoke anyone on the planet.
I take 2 positives from this : that 10,000m race is going to fast as fock, because both runners don't believe in sitting and waiting stuff out....They will smoke the field.
The second positive: Tirunesh is going to run Chicago, because the Berlin field is set If Im not mistaken.
We shouldn't even have a medal ceremony for 10,000m, just pass the gold and silver out right now.
So ethiopia is going to destroy everything from 1500 to the marathon for the women.

Tirunesh will beat Ayana

I also take 2 positives from this: a positive drug test from Ayana
The second positive: a positive drug test from Dibaba
And I wouldn't be to quick on the "Ethiopia is going to destroy everything from 1500 to marathon". Hellen Obiri has been looking very good and has held her form from May till Monaco. She definitely has a shot at taking down a vulnerable G Dibaba (if she runs the 5k) and a questionable Ayana.

Obiri will test positive, not Ayana or Dibaba

Why will they drop Burka? The three will make the team if the OP info is correct (and undoubtedly the best team).

I fear Helen has run herself just a little bit too hard this year. She has run hard from indoors to outdoors. And last week, she did something dumb to me, she ran that 3000m Monaco race hard as hell 2 weeks before worlds. It made no sense to me. Ayana is coming in on FRESH, FRESH legs compared to Helen. I'm a huge Obiri and Diababa fan. Hell I love all three, but if Ayana is on point, she will smoke. Only reason Ayana lost the 5000m in rio is because she went out too hard, and was coming off a hard record breaking 10,000m.
Dude, if ayana is on point. That chick will make the other runners hurt on every lap like never before....and again Obiri has a lot of hard running on those legs.
So we shall see. I can't wait.

Tirunesh will beat Ayana
I love them both, so I don't have a bias. I'm just going off of ability, and considering how Tirunesh got smoked last year by Ayana, I just don't see it. Plus Tirunesh is a marathon runner now, and that takes away from track speed.
I would love for the baby face destroyer to win. I love her running form, but Ayana is unreal when in form, and on fresh, fresh legs? for - get - about - it
A 32 year old marathon runner to beat a 25 year old 10000m defending champion?....I just don't see it, unless Ayana is in crap form. That is the only way. But Ayana's in-form vs Diababa in form, right now? The 29:17 runner is going to smoke. Dibaba never broke the world record at 10000m. Almaz might just natural be the better 10000m runner.
One more thing - in rio, that was Ayana's first race at 10000m....I wouldn't be surprised if she breaks the record again at Worlds.
One thing is for sure. One will get gold, and the other will get silver.
Look Ayana and other athlete here

NO one knwos what shape Ayana is in and as a result, gold isn't guaranteed in the 10k.
Tirunesh in the 10k is also not a lock. She's been doing the marathon.
If there was a time Kenya was more poised to strike gold in both events, (5 and 10k) it is now!
