I always thought that acing a test meant that you got a perfect score, but I've recently heard people use the term to refer to any score in the A range. Are they right, or should I tell them to shut the hell up until they've learned English?

40+ years ago it meant perfect score.

... or significantly out-performing the rest of a class. I only managed that once in college—chemistry 101—;scored 93/100 with the next best score being 78. I wouldn't count HS tests—comparatively too easy to ace.
BTW: I was grilled by the chemistry professor about scoring so much better than the rest of the class. She was satisfied with my the answer. Acing can mean having to prove you did not cheat; at least in college courses.
