I bet he didn't get that job "because" he has a law degree, but because of someone he knew. If you want a non-legal career with your law degree, then why not get a degree in that field instead?
Headhunters don't find non legal jobs for people with law degrees. Using your law degree to find yourself a non-legal job that you're not otherwise qualified for isn't an easy thing to do.
You have a law degree that qualifies you to practice law. The "it's the most useful degree you can have and it opens lots of doors" is the biggest crap I've ever heard since "I'll respect you in the morning."
One of the reasons I stayed in law school instead of dropping out was because I heard that f***ing line so many times I believed it. If you think it's going to lead you somewhere other than a legal job, then you're sadly, sadly mistaken.
I have to go now. I have a bond reduction hearing in an hour for a client who, while getting caught robbing a home, tied a dad and his child to a chair and made them watch him rape the wife/mother, then beat the hell out of the dad. He's in intensive care with a life threatening head injury.
Yea, gotta love this line of work.
