I got this from Runner's World...
Is this an accurate way to compute calories burned running?
Calories= Kg X Miles X 1.036
Thanks

why would you use a formula that mixes metric and imperial units?
that being said i can only add 2 things:
1) if it is on rw, it must be true and
2) i do not think sideways was that great of a movie.
that should be
calories= Kg X kilometer X 1.036
i'm just wondering, if its true then it doesn't matter how fast or slow one runs, walking or running covering the same distance burn the same number of calories.
jog around the park burns the same calories as walk around the park?
thanks again
It seems like a simple generalization. I suppose you go slower, but take longer -- burn the same energy?
I reckon you burn more calories by going faster since you have to work harder against the wind.
The RW claim is a bit like saying that a car will burn the same amount of fuel over a given distance, no matter what the speed. Not true. Most cars have the optimal fuel efficiency around 60 mph (highway speeds).
never mind. got all of these explained in some old threads.
thanks just the same
can you post the link of these past threads...i'd be interested in seeing some..
thanks
